oh yeah and she named this random lady as a volunteer assistant coach.

Georgia fired Danna Durante in April after five seasons with the program, including a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Championships this season.
Kupets led Georgia to four national titles and two SEC championships from 2006-2009. She also won eight SEC event titles and nine NCAA individual crowns during that stretch and won the Honda Award in 2007 and 2009.
She was named the best-ever NCAA women’s gymnast by the NCAA in April.
Kupets was also won a silver medal as a member of the 2004 United States Olympic team and an individual bronze on bars.

Are we supposed to be excited about this? I'm not sure how to respond honestly.

I'll agree with both points.
-to be fair, Kupets was pregnant in that picture
-I hate Suzanne Yoculan

I see she was brilliant as a gymnast. How is she as a coach?

that the thing. Nobody knows. She has zero experience as a head coach of collegiate gymnastics team beyond being a grad assistant for a year. The fact that Suzanne Yoculan is on board should keep the worst case scenario from being, say a "Bama Baseball" type disaster, but aside from that, this hire underwhelms. If she leads UGA back into relevance and contending for titles, then Georgia found lightning in a bottle again.

It's the perfect McGarity hire:
1. Cheap
2. Required no effort
3. Name recognition for anyone on the fringe

As a youthful teenager, I thought she was fire in the 04 Olympics

So true. It'll be interesting when Mark Fox is fired and J.J. Frazier is named the next head coach of our basketball program.

No way brah. Sundiata Gaines has been double secret training for his chance at the head spot ever since that sec tourney run back in 08. JJ will get an interview though but Gaines will do it for cheaper

I'd hit it......the volunteer assistant.

That does it! Now you've crossed the line. You brought back that bitch, Yoculan! Well two can play that game. WE'll just have to convince her arch nemesis and her kryptonite, Sarah Patterson to come out of retirement and "volunteer coach" as well. You want a nuclear arms race in the gym, Bulldogs, you got it!

Patterson should be healed from her knee surgery by now, bring it on, let the SEC Gymnastics Game of Thrones resume!

Will be the end of Kirby

Well, I would think coaching gymnastics to be very different from coaching most other team sports. I really hope she can return the program to glory.
