We're not even like a sleeping giant for that long. Less than 10 years ago we were runner up in the CWS

I'd like to see Clemson add him on staff for recruiting

Georgia has the weirdest history of popping up and being elite for a year or two then falling back to oblivion... you guys have had a hell of a time maintaining a program yet inexplicably being elite

TCU coach, Arizona coach, and Michigan are the first 3 names were hearing.

TCU guy would be home run hire

I don't see why Schlossnagle would want to leave TCU.

Chad is a good guy ... but he reminded me a lot of Sparky Woods and Brad Scott. Recruiters who couldn't coach. Too soft spoken, had no idea how to manage a game. Lost control of the players and lost the confidence of the fans.

I'm sure Ray is talking to the guy down at Bethune Cookman already. And he'll probably talk to the guy at Davidson and a couple of others.

It's a promo job. He's gotta get it right this time.

Chad went out one and done in a home regional for the first time since 1976. He also failed to get us in the post season twice inside of three seasons for the first time in over twenty-five years. He also lost eight SEC series in a season for the first time in history.

He had to go. The guy could recruit and there will be plenty of talent to build upon - but he's got some work to do. First things first, find a real head coach who knows how to move all the pieces around ... then find the right staff to go with him.

Hopefully we'll turn it around like LSU did after they got rid of Smoke.

Would turn flips if Ray can get that guy up at Michigan.

He's the hottest commodity in the country right now.

Of course he isn't, and it is lazy of our local sportswriters to put his name on lists of potential candidates.

where does all of the Georgia high school talent go to play ball?

A lot of it goes to Vandy. Given the baseball talent in Georgia, the University of Georgia clearly sets its sights too low and expects too little of its baseball coach and program. Excellence is not their pursuit.

They may go after mark Calvi from south Alabama. He was on the staff their for the two Marty's as pitching coach. He has south Alabama playing good ball

I know a lot of South Carolina fans who are very happy about this. They wanted him gone two years ago.

A couple things:

1) UGA sucks at baseball largely because the school doesn't really care about baseball (or any sports) they're more worried about academics. Georgia has the the worst facilites in the SEC - they simply don't really care the arms race most of the rest of the SEC has.

2) Re: Holbrook - How much blame falls on Espositio and Meyers and will Tanner essentially "force" the next guy to keep them around?

3) LOL at some of the names being mentioned on here for the job. Esp "the guy at..."
Are some of you really too lazy to quickly google the coache's name or do you simply just not care how unintelligent and uniformed it makes you sound?

4) P.S. - Be careful with these coaches at small schools that get "hot" and make the NCAA perhaps even a Regionals or some games in the regional. It's much different winning and building a program at smaller schools for a multitude of reasons. Look at Alabama and Greg Goff as one example. Very risky, IMO. Kind of like last year when dumb Bammers wanted us to hire Mervyl Melendez. SMH. He's an awesome coach but most of the kids he recruits from his PR pipeline wouldn't qualify at Alabama academically.

south alabama's baseball coach and football coach are both hot commodities. if i were a chickenhead i'd be happy with that hire. plenty of talented coaches will be interested in USC
