He's on the right path for the job.

Let's enjoy the current one for now

You can't have our coach

quote:there is definitely a belief that this was the case during the last coaching changes cycle, which might lead one to believe that it was one of the reasons that LSU did not consider him (but in all likelihood, we were after a bigger fish)...no doubt that if he is successful at Florida, he will take over for Saban.

You guys couldn't even hire Rich Rod from West Va. Thank your lucky stars Saban was foolish enough to think he could win in the NFL.

Doubt it
If Napier is as good as the hype he will want to build his own thing like Kirby did at UGA .
Face it Gumps, the decline is real

Maybe the coach after your lame duck coach after saban

He better learn to recruit without having Nick Saban as his closer.

If he’s having enough success at Florida where Alabama comes calling then why would he pack up and leave? Anything he can do at Alabama he can do at Florida and he is in a closer proximity to elite recruits.

If he does well this year I think he will be the new coach at Texas.

In all likelihood, Napier didn’t want to take a lateral move to a school who finished ranked below the mighty University of Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns two years in a row.

I appreciate the jab

But the mess O has left and the stranglehold and talent in the West is daunting
Kelly was the right hire. A proven coach who can navigate LSU the next 4-5 Years to a better spot.
It's not going to be a popular rebuild among the faithful. Also think it wise to give him the big contract to protect him from the fans.
Napier wouldn't have gotten the big long term contract and would be fan fodder by year 3. He went to a place in a better position now, with (sorry UF) fans a bit more patient for immediate success. He would have done well for LSU, but I think at expense to his continued progression.
He'll get time to grow at UF. He may be there for 30 yrs or bolt to the next BIG contract and right opportunity. Is that Bama in a few years, maybe

Kelly won't navigate LSU out of the ditch. Kelly will be LSU's Waterloo.

Better spot doesn't mean a new Ferrari on the highway

Stop all this nonsense. Nick will be here for nearly another decade. Florida might fire napier in two more seasons. The guy has coached one game for goodness sakes.

Florida at it’s peak is as good as any position in the country. Who would want to follow Saban anyway? They might lynch the next guy after his first loss
