St. Francis to move from D1 to D3.
Trolling aside, this is indicative of the current collegiate sports landscape and I think we'll see more of these.
In addition to the mid major talent leaving to go to major conference schools with more resources, the mid majors will decide to de-emphasize athletics, leading to less Cinderellas in March.

It is an interesting topic. FCS football school that made the playoffs in '22. Just got eliminated from the NCAA D-1 tournament.
They're going non-scholarship D-3 because they can't keep up the financial pace of the scholarships let alone NIL.

What an idiot, this has nothing to do with St. Mary's.

intercollegiate athletics has always been complicated and is only growing in complexity based on realities like the transfer portal, pay-for-play, and other shifts that move athletics away from love of the game.

St Francis - Brooklyn totally dropped athletics a couple of years ago. It's going to happen to several more small colleges before the dust settles.

You mean Alabama State. This needs to be moved to the SWAC Rant.

They couldnt even beat Alabama State. I'd argue they made the right decision.
