Texas vs GA wont exceed A&M vs Notre Dame. 9.3 million.
Book it. Other issue is Texas loses to OU and then takes another loss to GA. The pain doesnt end there.
All of SEC has their popcorn ready for the melt in Austin.

Several Georgia fans in our section left at halftime

I think what happened is tons of people tuned in to the previous game and thought "Well, might as well watch this one too."

Century old rivalry among the premeir state schools with a combined state population of 22 million. Hard for any game to match that.
Bama and GA have about a 16 million combined population, and AL has a significant portion of the population who are AU fans. I'd wager to say much more significant than the UM vs Sparty split by % of the population.
For the Bama vs UGA game to draw those numbers in September, it was a national draw. The UM vs OSU game is certainly almost heavily drawn from regional viewers and fans.
I could be wrong, but I doubt I'm that far off.

College football averages around 15 million viewers for the 12 oclock games and 20 million viewers for the late games. That's on par with Sunday Night Football on NBC.
Where do you see that? Not according to this..

Meanwhile, even mediocre NFL games average more viewers despite only being available to limited markets.

Also helps its a night premiere game and not at 2:30 when people are still out doing things on a Saturday afternoon.
True college football fans don't out "doing things" on Saturday afternoons in the fall.

Well, that's false. I'll listen to a Bama game on the radio in a dovefield or watch on my phone in a treestand. Or, I'll avoid all media and phones to record and watch it later.
I love Alabama football, but it's not going to dictate my life. That's just sad.

More tidbits..............
-- The game between UGA & Alabama is the most-watched college football game this year so far.
-- The game this past weekend is the 2nd highest in the last 2 years among SEC games. The highest is UGA-Tennessee in 2022 in Athens with over 13 million viewers.
-- This year's UGA-Alabama game is just another game between the two programs that has garnered more than 10 million. There are only 2 games between the two powerhouses (in 2015 and 2020) that have failed to get at least 10 million.
-- So far in 2024, the Georgia Bulldogs are the most-watched college football program in the nation with a total of 26.18 million viewers. Keep in mind that UGA still has Auburn, Texas, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Georgia Tech left on their schedule that will only add to their numbers.
-- UGA, USC and Michigan are the only programs in 2024 to have at least 2 games that have drawn over 6 million viewers.
-- Over the past 12 years, the UGA-Alabama football series is the most-watched college football rivalry series in the nation with a total of 146.1 million!! Even though the Dawgs and the Tide do not meet every year, the series has still outdrawn the Ohio State-Michigan series in totality.!!

Atlanta is getting gassed right now with a biolab explosion in Conyers right west of it. Metro Atlanta will be covered with chemicals tomorrow the Georgia environmental protection agency is saying. Why is this not bigger news?
They are really screwing people over down there right now.
Literally chlorine gas is blowing all over the place in that conyers area right now and the wind direction starts pointing to Atlanta around midnight tonight.

I bet the Ohio State-Michigan game's ratings will blow it out of the water.
Posted on 10/2/24 at 3:19 pm to RollTide1987
Those really aren’t great ratings for such a big game. The early blowout probably hurt a lot.
To put it in perspective LSU/Bama 2011 averaged over 20 million viewers. 2019 LSU/Bama was almost 17 million.

This year? Doubtful. Michigan isn’t a good team. Y’all will blow them out.

If Georgia had won that game we would surely beat those numbers when they come to ATX in a few weeks. I think we'll still get a fair number of eyeballs, just not as many.
Alabama-Georgia is a way bigger matchup than Texas versus anybody. I know yall are new here, but come on.
