i have a friend from new york who doesnt see the logic between d1 talent and d3. then he argues they ride the bench all 4 years.

hes like "Could it happen? I mean I always see OSU kill division 3 teams."

Jax State is FCS. Even the Black Bears wouldn't lose to a DII or DIII school. That being said, if there was a team to do it, it would be them.

I played D2. We played 2 teams from 1-aa each year. Came close a couple of times. But, never beat one. When we played D3 teams, we destroyed them.

D3 couldn't be on the field with D1. Think Cumberland vs. Georgia Tech.

I played D3 football and we would not have beaten any D1 team, nor would any of our opponents and we played some of the best D3 had to offer. Ole Miss would have even beaten us.

This is like the debate of could a D1 team beat an NFL team.

I guess maybe there might be a year where the VERY WORST D1 team could potentially be beat by the VERY BEST D3 team but even then it's not very likely.

Apparently some are confused by the difference in FCS and D2, D3.

ETA: STA, Hoover, Bosco, South Panola and those types would beat a lot of D3 teams.

Wisconsin-Whitewater just won their 2nd consecutive D3 championship. Their OL averages 6'2 265

Could you imagine them trying to slow down LSU or Auburn's DL?

I played D3 ball and we were ok, but Vandy probably would have hung a 100 on us with ease. Think of a D3 squad as a bunch of guys who might play intramurals at a D1 school. Maybe they could hang for a minute or a couple of plays, but after that they'd get their faces kicked in.

Also, D3 programs don't even provide athletic scholarships. They disguise this in other ways through merit and academic scholarships, but no scholarships for sports.

UC-Davis (D2 at the time) beat Stanford a couple years ago.

D3 over D1 isn't that farfetched, considering that eight D1 schools play by D3 rules. Princeton went 0-7 in the Ivy League; Wisconsin-Whitewater could probably take them this year.

True. But Division II teams (not I-AA) have beaten Division I teams before. I think it happened to Stanford recently.
