The event’s popularity on television and streaming has also continued to soar. The NCAA reported that the first six College World Series games were the most watched on record, averaging 1.2 million viewers. North Carolina-Tennessee drew a high of 1.7 million on ESPN2.

Currently, the 2023 average leads all-time at 24,559 per game. 2024 is only 5 off the pace at 24,554. Every A&M & UT game has topped that mark & potential record highs are expected for the finals.

Congrats to the biggest draws in college baseball history.

For reference just to show how "unpopular" baseball is:

Alabama's Playoff-altering win over Georgia averaged 17.519 million viewers on Saturday,

the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl on ESPN drawing the most average viewers at 27.2 million.

Washington's Sugar Bowl win over Texas drew 18.4 million viewers, according to the network. At its peak, the game was watched by 24.5 million viewers

I know it's a shiny hook, but I'll bite.

Despite airing on ESPN2 to accommodate the NBA Draft, Thursday’s LSU-Wake Forest Men’s College World Series semifinal averaged 2.09 million viewers — the largest audience for the event since Game 2 of the Oregon State-Arkansas final in 2018 (2.16M). The previous high was set just three days earlier on Monday, when the same matchup averaged 2.02 million on ESPN.

Outside of the final, this year’s three LSU-Wake Forest games (Wednesday’s matchup averaged 1.89 million) delivered the three-largest MCWS audiences ever on the ESPN family of networks.

Overall, LSU’s five games have been the most-watched of this year’s tournament. Their three games against Wake Forest hold the top three spots and their two games against Tennessee rank fourth and fifth at 1.80 million (Tuesday) and 1.61 million (last Saturday) respectively.

Not only have the LSU games been the most-watched of the tournament, they have also generated the largest year-over-year gains.

Monday’s Game 3 of the Men’s College World Series Final (LSU-Florida) averaged a 1.9 rating and 3.59 million viewers across ESPN (3.43M) and ESPNU (158K), marking the largest College World Series audience ever on the ESPN networks (regardless of gender). Viewership more-than-doubled the previous Game 3 two years ago, Mississippi State-Vanderbilt on ESPN2 (1.69M).

The full three-game LSU-Florida series averaged 2.86 million viewers.

Of course it is. The past 20 years or so aggy has gone full diploma mill in a insecure effort to have more living alums than gosh durn tee yew...and NONE of have seen an aggy championship in a big 3 sport in their lifetime.

All those desperate aggy out there thinking this may be their one and only chance...so yeah they're watching any way they can.

This CWS has been fanfrickingtastic. The championship series should be the same.

I like this spelling even better than t.u. Is there a t shirt. This might be a new SEC spelling for the next decade.

I like it. Which probably means it sucks.

You forgot to include a little tidbit in your post about A&M and their enrollment numbers. You forgot to mention the top 10% law in Texas. That law taking effect is what caused A&M to have increased enrollment numbers. Nothing the university can do about it. By Texas law, Texas A&M is required to accept any Texas student in the top 10% of their graduating class that has successfully completed the required coursework for admission.

Utx is only required to admit the top 6% because the university is landlocked and there is no room for expansion that would enable the school to be able to handle increased enrollment numbers. That's the only reason Utx hasn't gotten a lot bigger than it already is. Blame Texas legislators if the size of A&M bothers you.

Just curious: how does this compare to the women’s softball World Series viewership?

If the CWS one year could get Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas and pick another team.

Those ticket prices and attendance would be never be touched.

Of course it’s very high SEC dominance

Plus Tennessee has a huge fan base as well.

I assume aTm has a large fan base as well.

Last year was the highest also. I hope next year resets the record. It’s a fantastic sport and so far, still uncorrupted.

That speaks to incredible recruting for TN and A&M.

Congrats guys as from this standpoint, we have both already won!

The two teams everyone will want to play for. Schloss and Vitello have already been killing it as recruiters. Gonna be insane for 2025 recruits.

Applause to both teams.

Cry baby much?

Sorry, OSU and A&M are the largest. Texas screwed themselves by a 40 acre landlock in a now overly crowded liberal, CA filled city. So Texas has to pretent to be a Ivy League School. With Ivy league attitudes.

Ridiculing another school's academic standing while misspelling simple words in the process will never not be ironic lol

I'm expecting bigger viewership numbers for the final this year with Game 2 getting broadcast on ABC.

It's been years since the CWS has been shown on an over the air channel.

I honestly wish college baseball were bigger. The whole tournament was impossible to find game times, etc. I remember asking my gf while I was driving, to search when the LSU baseball game was one day, think it was Wofford, and all she could pull up was articles about 2023 LSU Florida.

Baseball is terrible at marketing itself.
