Kyle Field is the loudest college stadium in the US.
2010 Nebraska I believe the crowd forced a delay of game at the end that was a major deciding factor

I've never seen an opposing QB wait for a crowd to quiet and expect a penalty on the fans. Is that even legal?
Though it's very common for our LB's and dLine to signal the crowd to yell louder if they see it flustering the oLine/QB.

In the way Texas is the most bestest state in the history of the world, or is it REALLY the loudest?

Yes at one time the officials could penalize the home team for excessive crowd noise.

I knew it was a rule but I didn't know how often it was enforced. Was it frequent?
When did they overturn that rule? Sometime in the late 80's/early 90's?

Used to happen a lot in CFB and yes they used to penalize the audience for being too loud.

Wasn't that an organized cheer to try and get the record?
ETA: Not during an actual game?

It can get really loud when there is organic and spontaneous cheering after a sudden big play like an INT or punt return or whatever.
I actually think the Yells are cool as a tradition, but during the games I think they actual suppress the students' ability to get rowdy and excited and loud and all that.

That link says "We could not find info on Kyle Field decibel levels so we couldn't include them"
Link lists LSU at 130 db
Kyle Field recently measured at 134 db
Thank you for proving my point and helping
