Not to be negative or sacrilegious before the beginning of football season, but I found it to be an interesting thought experiment.

Any players or coaches that rubbed you the wrong way while seemingly being beloved among our fans?

Mine would probably be the Nkemdiche brothers. They were good, but I was over it by the time they left. Early Denzel was great. Might be because that’s when I was in school and saw a lot of off the field behavior.

Also, Hugh Freeze. I knew there was something disingenuous from the start. Wins will solve a lot, but I was ready for the Freeze era to be over as soon as he got to Oxford.

Greg Hardy

One of the most talented defensive linemen in school history and dominated when he actually put effort in on the field. However he only did it a few times a year and slacked off most of the time.

He also is a woman beater so frick him

I couldn't stand that stationary-making mother fricker. He mailed it in after the Sports Illustrated cover where he was hitting Tebow.

Pete Boone technically counts.

Pick a Kim Dee Chee brother. Either one.

I'm sure they're freebasing somewhere by now.

I can’t believe I’m the 5th response and this is if the first time Korvic Neat’s name has been written. Now that I’m older I feel bad for the kid. He didn’t tell the Spirit staff to write an article saying he was the next Dexter. I remember when they interviewed him on field after a practice, (if you Google his name it used to be the fist thing that came up) and he LOOKED like McCluster. Same dreads and even the way he spoke and did interviews was similar. Every punt VHS stadium would echo with ‘Get away from it!’ He just couldn’t consistently catch them to save his life. We all remember how great it was for Freeze to beat that loaded LSU team in Oxford on a last second FG and to know we had a program moving in the right direction. But Neat muffed a punt inside our own 25 in that game that sparked their comeback. If he just gets away from the GD ball we beat the Tigers by 2 TDs that night.

Q Judkins. Great running back but his head got too big. He was a cancer for the team and I was glad to see him go.

Who was the big white OL who played under Nutt I think who got called for holding like 37 times and gave up a bunch of sacks?

My memory is fuzzy but I think he basically went undrafted. Then maybe signed a UFA contract. And once he got into the NFL they taught him proper technique and he blossomed into a legitimate NFL starter with a great career. (I think with the Colts).

Basically Nutt & Co did nothing to develop the guy. He was a legit NFL talent who was totally wasted in a shite system.

I used to throw things at the TV every time he cost us a drive. Now I can't even remember his name.

Korvic Neat consistently attempted to field a punt with his chest rather than his hands. I swear, it's like he wanted to chest bump the ball rather than catch it.

That was Nutt’s shite play calling. He would call a play action pass every obvious passing down. Oline has to push forward like they’re run blocking before pulling back and when quick defensive ends know it’s a pass play, they’re just running past the offensive line.

Those holding penalties basically saved the QBs from getting 2-3 concussions.

No. Not him. I'll do an internet deep dive and come up with his name

John Rhys-Plumlee. I have nothing against him as a person, he seems like a genuinely great man who loved Ole Miss when he was here. I always thought Matt Corral was better than JRP, even when they were splitting time at QB, and that playing JRP more in 2019 because he could run the ball was a waste of time that Corral could have used to develop.

You can't blame Plumlee for Matt Luke not putting Corral on the field in 2019.

We all know why Corral ended up being a properly developed QB. Plumlee had nothing to do with it.

Nathan Stanley. He was gonna be QB1 in 2010 before Masoli came in. I met him once in Oxford, and he came off as a cocky douche. He’s the only player I can remember truly not liking.

Like I said, nothing against Plumlee as a person. Just didn't like how the QB situation was handled.

ETA: May anger just may be misdirected. I redact my JRP submission

I was shocked to see JRP even on a training camp roster as QB. Wish he had stuck around as a receiver because he obviously has the athletic ability to make it there in the NFL. Apparently the Steelers are experimenting with letting him return kicks and catch passes, so maybe it’ll happen for him anyway

Nothing personal but Tony Bridges in 2015 was a disaster in zone and just average to above average in man.

Honorable mention for CJ Hampton who managed to get busted for multiple NCAA infractions but not do anything on the field for 4 years.
