Moving to the SEC Just Means More tailgating!

The University of Oklahoma has significantly expanded its public tailgating areas ahead of its first football season in the SEC.

Q

@Mongo5817

Move the fanzone/kids zone to the South Oval, and open tailgating in the area north of the stadium.

A

@UofOklahoma

Tailgating is permissible north of the stadium with a few exceptions.

Public tailgating is permitted anywhere outside on campus except for the prohibited areas marked.

From website:

TAILGATE ON, UNIVERSITY

The University of Oklahoma announced a significant expansion of its public tailgating options ahead of its debut football season in the Southeastern Conference. Beginning fall 2024, OU is establishing new public tailgating areas at prime locations including Boyd Lawn, along Asp Ave., and near Oklahoma Memorial Union.

OU invites fans to tailgate anywhere on campus except for a limited number of areas marked as restricted on the university’s tailgating map. For the best experience, OU encourages fans to set up in the recommended tailgating spaces marked on the map at the Boyd Lawn and north Asp Avenue area, Brooks Street, Lindsey Street and the Duck Pond. Public tailgating areas are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Other campus areas designated for public and private tailgating will remain the same as last season.

I didn't know that. You're one of my favorite posters on this site.

I spent my first 3 semesters at LSU. 1989-1990, and stayed in BR for a bit until I ran out of money

I had family in BR and Ruston, they're all in Ruston now. I lived with my cousin and like 7 of his friends in a house off Old Jefferson Hwy. Coming from Oklahoma where the drinking age was 21 and Draconian liquor laws.. to a place where the drinking age was 18 and we could buy liquor at 7-11 in the middle of the night.. or get daquiris at a freaking drive-thru.. man it felt like a completely different country.

I missed it so bad when I moved back to OKC. Oklahoma's got some beautiful women, but I was like.. there's something in the water down here because the hottie-to-not hot ratio was magnitudes greater in BR at the time and they're all friendly. I worked at Dillards and a book store in Cortana mall. Water-skiing in the Amite river, gators on the bank and I'm thinking wtf are we doing here.. the people were just so much fun and laid back.. not everyone has a grill in their backyard but everyone has a boil pot and I fell in love with creole cuisine.. I always planned to move back to BR but life happened! Those were some of the most fun times of my life.

Sorry. memory lane.
