It was a set up to try to make the other conferences look competitive. It backfired.

This bowl season should be screaming to other conferences how tough the SEC is from top to bottom. Our bottom feeders just eviscerated the best other conferences had to offer.

This. I wouldn't be surprised for the national media to mostly ignore what the SEC did this bowl season, which was go 6-2 with every opponent being ranked. Watch the media focus on the Big12 going 5-0 instead, which was not in any way impressive with their lackluster competition. The only bowl game that was even a close match was Oklahoma State and Miami. Texas, with their top ten recruiting classes got Colorado and their two star roster with a home game. Oklahoma got a opted out Florida team in a practical home game. Iowa State got to play a replacement Oregon team who was ranked for some odd reason. West Virginia squeaked by Army, which is a quality win.
SEC bowl wins by impressiveness IMO:
1: Kentucky
Kentucky plays football without a quarterback, yet their SEC trench players were all they need to beat a ranked 8-3 ACC team. Great job.
2. Ole Miss
Ole Miss doesn't field a defense, and yet were able to beat a team that should have played for a Big 10 championship game. Again, great job.
3. Mississippi State
State has looked like a 3 win team all season, yet handled the runner up of the group of 5.
4. Georgia
Georgia played a senior laden Cincinnati in what was their super bowl without as many as 12 starters, and many others who had very little experience on top of only three practices.
5. Alabama
Alabama did what Alabama should do against a perennial overrated Notre Dame team, no surprises here.
6. Texas A&M
I thought A&M was better on both sides of the ball and should have far more aggressive playcalling on offense and let an inferior North Carolina team hang around far to long. The final score reflects what the separation should have been in the third quarter.

Move UGA to end of the list and it looks good.
UGA play and coaching was the most embarrassing SEC game of the bowl season, including losses.
