Bauer
Fried
Soroka
Stroman
Anderson
Ozuna is going to want a lot of money and I am all for re-signing him (one of my favorite players) but what if we signed Bauer and Stroman in the same off season. We better make some big cuts and at least sign one of Stroman/Bauer

Braves aren’t signing Bauer. I’ll be curious about these deals with revenue being way down.

Bauer is open to 1 year deals

The only way I see that is if doesn’t get his mega deal. Depends on how the market will react to the current environment

No need for Stroman. Wilson/Wright have proven enough to at least battle for a rotation spot and the other getting the long relief spot. Thats 12-15 million saved.

Why save the money if we have it?? We have the lineup to win. We must do everything we can to win and IMO that requires finding two starters worth a shite.

Because the combination of Wright / Wilson and $12M to spend elsewhere is greater than Stroman for $12M?

okay are you high?
Stroman ERA 3.76 6 years
Kyle Wright ERA 6.22 3 years
Bryse Wilson ERA 5.91 3 years
you can dig deeper into the WAR and what not but Stroman is a top pitcher in the league and one of the more consistent

What else do we need other than 3B and pitching? Assuming we resign Ozuna.

No because I think Stroman is overrated.

You asked the question if we would be willing to let Ozuna walk for a rotation of Bauer, Soroka, Fried, Anderson, and Stroman. To me the answer is a simple no. I’d rather have have Bauer, Soroka, Fried, Anderson, and Wright / Wilson and use the $12M saved elsewhere whether than be Ozuna or somebody else.
I’m not sure why you asked the question if you were not interested in hearing responses bud

Assuming we sign Ozuna, I don’t think we have a lot of needs in the field outside of 3B and upgrading the bench. It’d be nice to have another left bat though
But the question asked was to assume that we lost Ozuna. In that case it creates an obvious need to replace Ozuna with a middle of the order at bat which I don’t see happening if we signed Bauer and Stroman

when was the last time we spent any money on good free agents during the offseason

Oh trust me, I know. I put it on the MSB thread but I fully expect no Ozuna or Bauer in 2021

Riley needs to be given a chance to develop, at the ML level. He doesn't even have a full year of playing time w/the big club yet and people are already wanting to throw him out w/the bathwater.
I mean Jesus Christ....

Folks were ready to cut Dansby as well.
Sometimes players simply need time to develop. They aren't all going to be an Acuna or Soto right off the bat.
Granted, it took Dansby until Season 4 for him to put up above average numbers at SS, but I think it was worth the wait.

Exactly. And most players fall under the former category. Guys like Acuna, Ozzie(and even he struggled the 2nd half of his rookie year), Chipper and Freddie are exceptions to the rule, that's what makes them great and in Freddie's case, a future 1st ballot HoF'er.
We can all thank Chipper for Dansby. He revamped his swing prior to last year and we've all seen the results. Chipper is currently working w/Riley.
