Weird pick, Vanderbilt has the least chance of success and the most realistic expectations.

Florida has a worse D.C than LSU, and both are better than Golding.

This is Mason's seventh season. He's about to have seven straight losing seasons. Coming right off the heels of James Franklin's success proving it was possible to win there at least a moderate amount. I mean, you can't even get away with that in high school football. It's weird to me that Vanderbilt has chosen to squander that momentum and positive press and settle for this guy for the next seven+ years. I know sports are not Vandy's priority, but it IS possible for them to have success in football, if they just tried a little.

Herman supposedly has around 20M buyout
That's a problem for most schools, but not Texas. They got it and then some

They’ve “allegedly” already started buyout talks for Pelini.

Franklin was also the best coach they ever had in the worst east division of the entire modern era. It was a different situation. Muschamp is more likely imo because South Carolina thinks they should compete because lil ole clempson does.

You gotta consider the cost, though. Yeah, Franklin won some games, but it came with a rape scandal. That kinda shite can't fly at Vanderbilt.

Mason will make a fine DC for someone next year.
Stanford.
It will all depend on contracts.
No one is firing a coach with a big buyout this year, unless they were given a memorandum of understanding by Urban Meyer.

Pelini will finish the year simply due to optics and it’s Os first DC hire. Bama has String on staff and I see no reason not to at least move someone else to the booth and bring him down to help more than being an analyst. Pete Goulding has had three years and has given up more points than any DC at Bama since Sabans tenure. Hell even when Bama sucked under Dubose and Shula we played competent defense. I get offenses are different but there’s no excuse to give up 45 plus in 3/8 games.

How many times has he beat Tennessee though? I'm guessing that's been a factor in retaining him, on top of him clearly having passion based on his post game interviews, and seems he's been running a clean program and I imagine his players have been meeting academic standards.
There's also the question of who do you get to replace him?

No way AB hires another Cookeville coach after the Patrino fiasco. He didn't even interview any college coaches in 2015. He was really pissed about how that went down.
He talked a lot about it in his book. I don't see that happening.
