Josh Pate from 247 is reporting that JT Daniels impressed on Saturday.

I think you're getting way too wrapped up in focusing on Florida.
Well, we were responding to a post by a Florida fan, soooo, yeah, we were making comparisons to Florida.
quote:
His point is you are very good at beating inferior teams but cant get over the hump when its time to face a similarly "great" team.
And yet I showed where Kirby has an excellent record against top 10 teams. (8-4) Are top 10 teams not considered good?
quote:Except we won the SEC one of those years, won the Rose Bowl against the #2 ranked team in the nation as an underdog and played for a National Championship. But yeah. I get your point. Really awful. And if I remember correctly, the SEC West teams that beat us both won the National Championship...one of them ridiculously easy.
Steamrolling through the weak East and then essentially ending your season by losing to a West team the past 3 years in a row would seem to support his contention.
quote:Not at all. Why would anybody think one team or game is equal to other teams or games from one year to the next.
2017 you beat them by 35. 2018 you beat them by 19, last year you beat them by 7. Is that trend concerning?
Bet you didn't realize that after the first quarter, Florida never had the ball in which if they scored they could take the lead. They were never as close as the score indicates.

All I see is a whipped arse looking for somebody else to fight his battles. “Alabama beat y’all”, and crossed fingers, is about all that muhfricka gots. Strawsdrawnatrandom ought to be Graspingatstrawscauseitsalligot.

Even the Florida fans know this and dont debate it.
Usually, it is the LSU fans who dont understand the 2019 game. Now evidently for some odd reason, tennessee fans are throwing out the same incorrect tropes about the 2019 score.

I honestly believe he is trying to have an honest discussion and is not trolling.
Of course, I have been wrong before.

Statenville, Fargo, and Nahunta. By way of Atlanta, GA. Went over Monteagle to get there.

Um well that is kinda the point, that you steamroll through the good teams but cannot beat elite ones when it matters.
quote:

I never said its been "awful." In fact UGA has had some of the best teams in the country consistently over the past few years...which is part of the problem... are you really going to sit there and tell me you were pumped that you beat Baylor for the Sugar bowl last year? Take one of those teams and win something of substance and people will respect you like Bama, LSU, etc. Until then its all bark and no bite
Before you bring up UT and how much we suck, just remember that this is not a conversation about UT...I know we suck. Would I trade UT's results with UGAs over the past 5/10 years? Hell yes 100%. But the teams you are trying to emulate wouldn't, and that is where you need to get to. And to do so you need to beat them and win trophies.

I am! Even if my team sucks I try to be objective in the landscape. My biases show sometimes, but I am human

Wait. We should somehow feel inferior because we got beaten by teams that nobody else could beat?
Okay.

Have finished top 5 in the country the last three years in a row.
quote:Nope. Finishing top 5 is definitely NOT a problem.
which is part of the problem
quote:I was pumped we finished #5 last year and beating Baylor was a part of that. I mean, they looked to be headed for the playoffs and were ranked #7 when we beat them.
are you really going to sit there and tell me you were pumped that you beat Baylor for the Sugar bowl last year?
quote:Wait. Winning the Sec is nothing of substance? Winning the Rose Bowl is not winning something of substance? Winning a playoff game is not sinning something of substance?
Take one of those teams and win something of substance and people will respect you like Bama, LSU, etc. Until then its all bark and no bite
Or is your argument that there is no substance outside of the National Championship? If so there are an awful lot of teams that do not win "anything of substance" ever, and most don't win anything of substance but once or twice in their history.
quote:
Before you bring up UT
I'm not going to bring up UT. Why would I? I'm sure you are aware of how bad you have been the last 20 years just like we are fully aware we have not won a National Championship since 1980.
But be honest? Aren't Tennessee fans excited and hopeful about what Pruitt is doing at Tennessee? Why shouldn't we be excited and hopeful about what is going on at Georgia?

I thought that was what we were trying to do?

We all have biases. That's okay, too.
And....I for one do not think your team sucks. I think Pruitt is doing a lot of good there and has you on the right path. You are leaps and bounds ahead of where you were 3 years ago, and seem to be improving.

Every game matters. Even beating Tennessee. That is why college football is better than pro sports.

Yes. We didnt deserve to be in the playoff. And we beat a good Baylor team (defense) with our B team and new OL coach.
We had 2nd to 4th team OL, WR, and RBs in the game.
As for beating Bama, we were deficient in talent versus them. 2017, we were weak at DB. 2018, weak at ILB and NT depth. The talent deficiencies are getting fixed. LSU was able to get to our 6th and 7th DBs. That still may be a concern for 2020, but I'm not sure how many offenses will force 7 DBs.

nd....I for one do not think your team sucks
I dont think so either. But for the purposes of this board, its just much easier to fall back to me saying "we suck"....you cant expect most people on this board to have a nuanced view. We get a lot of "LOL GA State beat you, you suck" its just easier to agree and keep moving than get caught up in the particulars
Agree with what you are saying...gotta run and ill check back later

It was a damn good victory with so many people out and losing our OL coach before...it was a solid comeback after the SECCG showing and it was a very important game for Baylor.

win something of substance
Geez. So Tennessee won NOTHING of "substance" in the 60's,70's,80's,00's and '10's? Amazing the high standards
Vol fans apparently have.
BTW,name another 1st time HC whose had a better start than Kirby in his 1st 4 years in the SEC?

Kind of like Spurrier with us, Kirby lives to stomp your arse. You won't ever get the benefit of sneaking up on us. You'll be 10 years into a 9-1 UGA run telling everyone "Well if you go back to 1990 we really lead the series"

IDK man.. us LSU fans use to make this excuse quite often..
In fact, I have seen a lot of similar excuses from Georgia over the past year or so.
You could be right though.
