Why doesn’t SEC have hockey?

I know so many people who watch NHL. The sport is much more exciting than basketball and baseball.
The colleges that actually have hockey teams seem lame though, and the 5 minutes I’ve actually watched of college hockey you wouldn’t even know it’s a contact sport.
Why doesn’t the SEC get into the hockey business and show the lame schools how sports are done? The south has the athletes. Just gotta start teaching them how to play.
Mississippi State vs Ole Miss would be lit.
LSU players would beat up Am’s crappy team.
So much potential, but of course Sanky will be behind the times and we won’t see it anytime soon.

Could be a challenge, bet within 5 years an sec school would win it all. There is a college in Huntsville that won a collegiate championship at a lower level.

They have club teams. I guess that's a start.

Lol... Alabama has had a pretty good club team since 2006 or 08
They won the DIII league and finished 2nd a time or two. I think they and, maybe, Arky have the only D1 club teams right now. Could be wrong though.

Ice is expensive.
It's a great sport that is only slowly gaining popularity in the deep south and ice is not free in the winter in the deep south our southwest.

Aren't UAHuntsville and Arizona State like the only schools below the Mason Dixon line that sponsor NCAA hockey? And UAH has had their program killed and brought back several times now.
