I love what Drinkwitz has done at Mizzou so far. A lot of hope for the future and his recruiting has been tremendous thus far.

Ed only has 3 full seasons and a partial one as HC for his resume (at LSU). Averaging wins with such a small sample size is a bit rough.
So 3 seasons is inadequate to judge CEO, but 4 is sufficient to judge Kirby? Do you listen to yourself when you say these things?
quote:
I'll definitely grant you that CEO has tougher competition. I just wouldn't use averages and then discount CEO's first season (albeit a partial one) but not Kirby's. In their last 3 seasons, Kirby is averaging 12 wins to CEO's 11.3.
You're moving the goal posts that now we should only count three for Kirby? Isn't that insufficient based on what you just said above?
I exclude 2016 because CEO was INTERIM HC; that was Miles's team not CEO's. The clock started for Orgeron when the interim tag was removed.
quote:
I'm just saying that Kirby is literally one pass play away from having a leg up on CEO, if we're looking at wins and hardware. CEO definitely has the best season out of all the coaches though.
One pass? That would give him a natty like CEO, but CEO would still have the head to head, so the scale would still tilt to CEO.

I didn't say that.

Yes, which is exactly my point.

Kirby would have more division titles, while they would each have the same number of conference and national titles.

Why are you cherry picking years?
I'm not. CEO is the coach at LSU, why would you confound the question (Ranking the SEC football coaches: 2020 edition) with irrelevant data from over a decade ago?
quote:
Is the question which coach has had a better career or which has had a better season?
Well, CEO has a Natty and Kirby doesn't, so the answer to both of those questions is CEO. If you want to look back at irrelevant wins/losses from CEO's time at OM, that's your prerogative, but it makes you look like you're swimming in a giant pool of Kirby/UGA koolaid.

Smart and Fisher too high.

Can't argue with Saban at number 1 but Orgeron being behind Kirby is a joke
The author is a Pro and analyzes CFB and isn't overtaken by emotional whims and over values the latest hot thing
The author likely knows that CEO caught lightning in a bottle with a Transfer QB & an NFL Asst, and that both are gone now and CEO has never shown the ability to recruit great QBs over his coaching career
If you wanna know what kind of HC you really have throw out his worst season and his best season and avg out the remaining seasons, that will tell you what kind of HC you really have, TBH CEO is lucky to be ranked #3, personally I'd have him ranked lower, maybe #5 or #6

That's more a reflection of you than it is of O. Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut than open it and prove you're a dumb arse. But you do you.

This is too dumb to even respond to.

Mark Richt had a great career winning percentage, too ...

He recruited Joe Burrow.

What’s the judging criteria? If it’s natty’s then Orgeron would be ahead of smart and the same level as Chizik. If it’s career winning percentage or record vs top 10 opponents then Smart would be in front of O, though with a much smaller sample size
Not career, but winning % at current school. His tenure at Ole Miss was thirteen years ago, I don't see how that is even relevant now.
Orgeron at LSU 40-9 81.6 %
Smart at UGA 44-12 78.5 %
Also, just a guess, but I'm pretty sure Orgeron has more top 10 wins during his tenure at LSU, maybe the most in the conference. Hell, he beat 5 of the final 10 this year alone.

Yeah, I would like whatever those fools were smoking who put O below Kirby

Stoops is very underrated IMO. I mean how can you possibly rank someone like Derrick Mason? He supposed to get to a NY6 bowl at Vandy?

And accomplished more. Which some of you seem to think doesn't matter, for some reason.

I will cop to being a little worried that Drinkwitz could be our Chad Morris but the thought of Sam Pittman being our coach has calmed those nerves a bit.
