Burrow is one 4-star that LSU lost. Same as about 12 other guys that we lost, and about 15 that we gained this recruiting cycle.
I imagine a lot of those guys got a bump in their score with the following in mind:
quote:
For example, Minnesota's Tanner Morgan was just the No. 1185th-rated prospect coming out of high school, but he clearly played above that last season. Therefore, he's now considered a 4-star in this metric. Players who underachieve their star rating are not lowered points, though, because the point of this exercise is to measure potential. And there could be mitigating circumstances beyond an overrated evaluation that has held a player back, like injuries.
Burrow, for example, would very much be considered a 5*.
Besides, you have a total of... 21 players leaving, right? 9 leaving early, 12 more graduating (including Burrow)?

They're taking into account the players that you're losing. Burrow is a whole lot of that demise.
So Indiana and Purdue will have more talent than LSU in 2020?

If so LSU lucked into winning the Nattie this year. We’re talking Auburin luck.

Well, LSU drastically out recruited them over the past 4 years, so the questions are:
1. How many LSU signees failed to qualify in comparison
2. How many LSU recruits/players transferred out
3. How many high level recruits transferred to those schools
If they had done this the previous year and we had a metric to base this off of, it would help a bit in seeing their process.

The fact that some of you guys are considering the possibility Indiana might be equal or better talent-wise to LSU is mind boggling.

According to these facts they are.

You realize this is a ranking for 2020?

No way LSU is 20th that made me disregard the entire list.

Using the 247 Sports Composite recruiting rankings of the three major services (247, Rivals, and ESPN), we give each player on the roster a point total based on the star they were assessed as a recruit. So 5 points for a 5-star, 4 points for a 4-star, etc. We only evaluate the last four recruiting classes, so for this year that's 2017-20.
LSU Class Rankings from 247:
2017=7
2018=15
2019=5
2020=5
No way they can be tied for 20. I bet LSU is 4th or 5th based on the criteria he said he followed.

Well, like I mentioned before, I only wonder how much is due to attrition.
I still have to think that the guy has some flawed data. For LSU to be 20th with those classes, either a metric ton of players would have had to never qualified and went elsewhere after CC, or he's missing something - like he didn't include LSU's incoming crop while including everyone else's.

Stoops doing work. And I wonder if they factor Josh Allen and Wagner being 2 stars and both led the league past 2 years in the SEC with an sacks?
Well this is evaluating the 2020 roster so why would Josh Allen be factored in? Also the only Wagner on UK's roster appears to be a WR so who are you even talking about?
But if your general question is whether this guy is taking into account players who have "overperformed" their recruiting rating, then yes he say he does that (although he doesn't really explain further):
quote:
--To account for teams that are considered "developmental" programs, thus they don't recruit a lot of 4-and-5-star prospects, as their players overachieve their incoming star rating they are given additional points. For example, Minnesota's Tanner Morgan was just the No. 1185th-rated prospect coming out of high school, but he clearly played above that last season. Therefore, he's now considered a 4-star in this metric.
