Wasn't there a rumor about Tubberville and Tony Franklins wife or something of the sort
1) She’d have something to hang onto while he did.......you know
2) He could hear her husband coming from a mile away

This bit of fake news always irritated me. Although there really wasn’t enough room for both egos.

Youtube the halftime conversation between Les Miles and a sideline reporter, if it is available.
But close your eyes and just listen.

Richard Williams led MSU to the Sweet 16 in 1995 and to the Final Four in 1996. He had won the SEC overall title a few years before, and State was becoming a pretty decent program.
There were rumors that he liked the coeds, and his assistant had recently married one, so the rumors on campus were flying. The '96 team lost a lot of talent, and the '97 team was a rebuild but had some promise. About midway through the season, things started to tank.
Apparently, one of his coeds ended up being the daughter of a prominent booster and the booster went scorched earth. Donald Zachrias, who was then the President, was able to negotiate a resignation at the end of the season.
So the Richard Williams era featured an SEC title, a Sweet 16 and a Final Four, and one average season later a retirement. The assistant that married the coed was promoted and is now the head coach at Western Kentucky.

Didn’t Jackie Sherrill castrate a bull before we played Texas?

Johnny Majors (when he was a player) kicked a 69 yard quick kick from his own 19 yard line on 1st and 10 against #2 Georgia Tech. UT won the game 6-0 and finished the regular season undefeated.

I dont want to question the insider knowledge of a bunch of Arky fans; but always thought Petrino's injuries looked more like road rash than a beating.

Nope, it was a beating... after he ran them off of the road. So, yes... a bit of road rash and then an arse kicking.
But, Let's speak of one HDN! Did better than most coaches at Arkansas but wouldn't let his ego get out of the way. Antagonized the fans while having an affair, even texting the girlfriend during a bowl game, which he lost. Hiring the hottest High School coach around with an innovative offense and plenty of talent to bring along. Antagonized the coach, and players he brought with him... All while bring in a lady admirer who was encouraged to trash the players Gus brought and their families all over social media. Then parent meetings with Frank Broyles, and David "Ladders" lee.
We as fans could see it all unraveling, as if I could say to Houston... "I called that play brother" and finally we "Brought that wood" and canned him with a golden parachute of millions while sending him to Ole Miss and the first 2 cotton bowls In 50 years.

What about the Arkansas coach that was fired on the field after a loss to Citadel in the early 90s?

So...is that true? Broyles actually fired him on-field after the post game hand shakes, or did he wait until Sunday morning to do it?

The cluster frick coaching search for Vince Dooley's replacement. The "search committee" was full of wanna be Bobby Lowders.
Erk Russell thought he was offered the job and the Dick Sheridan (NC State) was all set to take the job so long as his name wasn't leaked to the press and of course his name was in the AJC within 24 hours.
They eventually settled for good ole boy Ray Goff (who'd never had even been a coordinator) and effectively drove the program into the ditch for the next 15 years.

To establish himself as the alpha, Dinardo once wiped his arse with a doo rag on the practice field at LSU after he had repeatedly asked a player to stop wearing it

Pretty sure that was Curley Hallman. Some great threads about Curley on the Rant full of stories like this.

Paul Lambert, hired to coach Auburn basketball. 43 years old. He never got to coach.
He checked in to the Holiday Inn. Fire broke out late in the night.

In 1978, on the weekend of June 6th, Lambert agreed to cross the state line and conduct a two-day clinic for high school coaches.

Columbus Fire Chief George Lamb said firefighters found the 43-year-old basketball coach face down on the floor of his room “as though he was groping his way through heavy smoke.”
Muscogee County Coroner Don Kilgore determined that Lambert died from smoke inhalation. He was the only fatality that night. LINK
