Wade should be back pretty soon, I’m ecstatic.

And yet there has been no indication from the NCAA that they will do anything about any of it. Probably, as someone said on the last page, because they just want this all to go away. I get that this is the SEC rant so LSU is the focus, but this involves much, much bigger schools and coaches. NCAA doesn’t want that look

Sounds to me like the feds don’t really care much about the NCAA.

quote:

These statements, along with the defense counsel's proffer that they intend to elicit testimony from the subpoenaed coaches about their involvement in NCAA rule-breaking by paying student-athletes suggests that the defense may resort in this trial to arguments that pose a risk of attempting to garner the sympathy of the jury, and, therefore, would be categorically inappropriate

quote:

The defendants are on trial for serious federal crimes, and the defendants should not be able to use this trial as a referendum on the merits of the NCAA's rules or the state of college basketball, in an impermissible effort to garner sympathy with the jury.

quote:

Prosecutors have charged Dawkins and former Adidas consultant Merl Code with bribing three former assistant coaches -- Arizona's Emanuel "Book" Richardson, Oklahoma State's Lamont Evans and USC's Tony Bland -- to influence their players to sign with Dawkins' fledgling sports management company once they turned pro.

LSU fans are dumb as dirt.

The FEDS don't have to subpoena Wade. Wade has broken no federal crime......but he did break NCAA rules when he talked to somebody about offering a player an illegal benefit. The dumb luck of it is...Wade was talking to somebody who the FEDS had a wiretap on.

But if the shoe money dries up, it doesn’t matter if Wade is back. It’s a whole new ballgame.

What was the “illegal benefit”?

Saying that the feds haven’t subpeanaed wade and seem to have no intentions to subpeana wade makes me dumb as dirt? That is interesting.

So you think the NCAA will just turn a blind eye to all of this?

You're posting in this thread, on the side of the OP who has this in the title

FBI investigating Will Wade in Baton Rouge

Did I say that they would just turn a blind eye? All I said is that they haven’t made anything known as to what they’re going to do about all of it, if any of it

Sources told Yahoo Sports that the FBI made clear its interest was speaking specifically about Wade. Their presence in Louisiana could potentially signal an expansion in the ongoing federal basketball corruption case.

So is the OP wrong?

From the same article:

quote:

“If the FBI has been in town, we are not aware of it,” Munson told the publication. “The University has not been contacted.”

You have to take Yahoo reports with a grain of salt. Being an Auburn you should understand that.

Here is the thing.....the FEDS usually don't contact the employer that an employee is being investigated. It doesn't work like that. They are not the NCAA. Not a soul at Auburn knew Person was under federal investigation until he was arrested. That's how the FEDS work.

Anything offered to a player’s mom or representative is “illegal” to the NCAA. It’s ok for Wade to play dumb and I appreciate your attempt at it. But if there was an innocent explanation, we’d already have it.

And if they knew what the benefit was we would know that as well.

And playing dumb has been proven to be a viable stance to take when dealing with the ncaa. See North Carolina, Auburn, Arizona.

It doesn’t matter what it was. If it’s a free barbecue at the coach’s house, it can be bad for the coach.

Yes I know that but you have to know what the benefit was. I’ve heard the “strong arse offer” was a coaching position for smarts uncle.
