why are we going locey, hancock?

to keep the same rotation/rest should we make it to the supers

? seems like it's worth the risk to throw wilcox in game 1.

personally I think looking at the matchups and opponents we'd have been better throwing wilcox tonight, then having locey/hancock for the more important games later. But I do undrestand the flip side of them being on short rest for the supers.

It's just going to be really irritating if we happen to lose tongiht and then win with hancock then face elimination games the rest of the way with a combo of a true freshman in wilcox or guys like elliot that aren't really our go-to guys.

Just keeping them on their normal rotation

Also has the benefit of throwing our second best against arguably the worst team we will face and our best in game 2 which could either be an elimination game or a chance to move into the winners spot with Wilcox and Elliott both to throw to win

if we lose tonight with locey pitching, then we deserve whatever happens

This is true; if you. Can’t beat the 4 seed with your 2 arm then you deserve to get bit in the arse. Look at Miss State in their game right now

ETA: and as I say that they go back up 6-4

and then presumably if you go 2-0, you are pitching against teams that are much worse off than you anyway

Big thing that we should hopefully get this year is a true home field advantage. Last year the weather and postponement really fricked up our rest and gave the advantage back to the other teams who didn’t have to grind to win

If you posted that before they put 4 on the board to take a 2 run lead that was awesome timing

ETA: Meant to respond to tylerdurden about MSU

Yeah... If we had BYU in our regional (obviously far fetched), we might have actually done that, since they don't play any games on Sunday, if they had been included, their regional would have gone Thurs-Sat.

I dunno if Locey going tonight has anything to do with it, but keep in mind that he played at Houston County with Tanner Hall who plays for Mercer... so it makes the matchup a little more fun as far as regional baseball stories go.

Appreciate it in advance.

here's a "that's not really how baseball works" thought...

go up by 4 in the first, just take locey out now and save him for any necessary mop up duty
