re: Is Dan Mullen really a top tier coach in the SEC?

Mullen gets a gold star for QB development, but what are his other strengths? He had two chances to beat Alabama, but instead of finding a way to win, he played not to lose and lost both games. If he takes that approach at UF, he'll be coaching in the OVC in a few years.
Literally had a top ten defense at MSU last year. And that's what everyone pretty much does against Alabama other than teams who regularly recruit top ten year in and year out.
I don't think it's an indictment on him that he can't get it done at a school that has less to offer than every single team in its division with its primary in state rival cheating (probably for his entire tenure).
To win ten games a year it means he has to beat at least two teams that recruits better and has more resources. It's also not like he played four teams last year that regularly recruit in the top ten.
There are seven receivers on Florida's roster that are ranked higher than MSU's best receiver last year, I doubt we're going to see the same team or approach to games as we have in the past. Mullen literally picked up a pair of 4 star QBs in his first two classes already. He never had a single one at MSU.

He lost to a Matt Luke coached very down Rebel squad in 2017.
Of course you DO realize that early in the game the Miss St QB went down and that's why Ole Piss won?

It doesn’t seem he’s going to part ways with Hevesy, Knox, or Gonzales. He already allowed our best recruiter to leave in Sieder because he wouldn’t let him coach running backs. We probably shouldn’t get our hopes up that anyone is going to get fired, besides maybe Scott who seems like a terrible hire too. He has no ties so maybe we can upgrade there. I’m trying to stay optimistic but this Recruiting cycle mass it hard. We are getting ran over there is no way around it
I agree completely. Hell we don't hear about any top flight OL/DTs that are interested in coming here. It's gonna be a long 5 years unless Mullen fixes his staff.

No, he's in way over his head at Florida. State was perfect for him. His playcalling gives u a lot of wtf? Moments.
How the hell do u lose to THAT ole miss team? Just fgn how? He had a bunch of those type games.

He signed 4* Tyler Russell, 4* Keyteon Thompson, and 4* Jalen Mayden
Oh and 3* Dak Prescott

That shouldn’t have made a difference. Ole Miss sucked last year. If Mullen didn’t have another QB ready, that’s his fault.

That’s LSU cultural appropriation. ‘Pologize.

I totally agree with you on that. I'm tired of the State fans using excuses. The Landsharks were using their backup QB, too. If State's defense had no given up so many easy TDs, State still wins that game.

He should fit in better than Muschamp. If he can recruit well against UM and FSU he may do well.
Boom had to learn anlkt while at Florida .... but let's be honest, he also inherited an Urbie-leftovers shite show.
Mullen has done a better job assembling a staff in his first year at UF than did mUSChamp. But Mullen cannot recruit like Boom can recruit ... although Boom has openly admitted that he was not focused enough on recruiting guys on the offensive side of the ball and it's a mistake he has vowed to never make again.
I think a lot of how well Mullen does will be based on ...
Taggart at FSU.
How well Kirby does head-to-head.
How well mUSChamp does head-to-head.
How Mullen fares against LSU and Tennessee.
Those first three though ... those are direct personality tests for Mullen. Those three, I think at least, will be used as gauges by the fans.
FSU because of the in state rivalry.
Kirby because of the DSOR.
Boom because ... well, UF fires Boom and no way in hell does any UF fans wanna see Boom outperform Mullen head-to-head. Although, I believe there actually are some UF fans who will pull for Boom when he is not playing UF and most especially when Boom is playing UGA and UT.
But anyways, this Mullen at UF gig is going to be interesting to watch. Non of us wanna see UF lose their MoJo like UT did. UT sorta had it coming. UF makes the division and the conference better ... we need UF very very competitive.

Sour grapes.....just man up sport and accept the coach left for a better gig. The truth only hurts for a little while.

Could be a threat for Top Cuck behind Paul Manieri

Mullen is a terrible coach and recruiter! Say it over and over again, if it makes you feel better but arse kicking provided by the Florida Gators are coming back soon!

Ha! Ha! No Sour grapes here. I've never really liked Mullen as a head coach. He performed better at State than I expected, but he is not a good GameDay coach.
My only sadness in him leaving was that I thought State would screw up hiring his replacement. If I had known that Moorhead would be hired, I would have been begging Stricklin to take Mullen off our hands.

I'm still trying to figure out what Moorhead's done that makes MSU fans say things like this....

Moorhead was the top OC in the game, who wasn't already a Head coach.

If you really think this, you're a dumbass. But since you are an alter and a troll it really doesn't matter anyway.

He is 0-1 against Coach Luke.
Coach Luke.
