I was there. Hurts looked beyond bad in person. He even looked off in the warm ups. Mack will be a solid back up this year.

Jalen Hurts makes 2009 Greg McElroy look like Aaron Rodgers. Hell, 2016 Bama would have gone down as one of the greatest CFB teams of all-time with a Sims or Coker. That's how good they were yet Hurts somehow found a way to frick that up. He can't pass, is a vastly overrated runner and wouldn't be a starting QB on 75% of the Power 5 teams out there.

"Bama has never had a qb as special as jalen"
Dude....c'mon....Seriously. I mean....seriously
He's not even gonna be the backup next season. Jones ability as a passer is much more advanced. Much much more.

Hurts just a glorified Brandon McIlwain tbh

he's not a great passer but he's good and a great runner.. the guy is a career 61% 2400 20 TD guy in a very heavy rush offense.. he doesn't complete all his throws but I haven't seen anyone who does.. He never gets credit for his great throws because some of the Bama arse hats are waiting to gripe about an incompletion.
He abandons the pocket too early, runs backwards without keeping his eyes downfield, doesn't progress through his reads quickly enough, and the poor footwork that comes with all of this is just hilariously bad. He seems incredibly gun shy and it's something that has gotten worse and worse every time he goes out there. He's not the first QB this has happened to and he probably won't be the last.
The QB film room with Jalen is probably filled with the same mistakes, over and over again.

So you just said he can pass then brought attention to everything but passing the football

His problem is his head...he is skeered of throwing interceptions ..so he doesn't throw the ball to wide open receivers. Scrambles around looks good but it's worthless .bottom line a loser..we win in spite of him not because .. exactly what saban said on hot mic

But i am open to him getting his head straight and starts releasing ball

I appreciate all Jalen has done. He is a phenomenal player whose pure athleticism has won UA football games.
However, his limited skill set has placed UA in a number of bad and close situations that a more rounded player could have avoided.
Blake Sims is one of my all time favorite players, but he had similar limitations albeit a much better arm. My like for him as a player doesnt blind me to the fact that AJ or even Coker at QB probably win the 2015 NC. Blake had tremendous talent that was benefited by play calling to suit him. Key difference is that Kiffin is not here to engineer play calling to Jalen's strengths.
Saban needs a QB who can manage the game and consistently move the offense into good positions by utilizing ALL the tools around him.
Jalen's reluctance to move within the pocket and allow plays to develop down field wastes the talent at WR supporting him. He has shown no improvement in his accuracy or willingness to throw into tight windows. He is risk averse to a fault.
If the light eventually comes on for him, he will be incredible. Unfortunately, I think that window of opportunity is closing fast.

He’s a slightly better runner than J. T. Barrett and slightly worse throwing the ball.

Saban thought he couldn't pass based on the first half of the title game, and I'm sure he knows all Jalen's stats, so in a way you're calling Saban a freaking idiot

Thanks for bringing the IQ of the board down another notch.
