Breaking: Alabama lands 2020 QB Carson Beck (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama landed its quarterback of the future on Tuesday afternoon in Carson Beck. The Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence product had been committed to Florida to play baseball since July of 2017, but, after picking up an offer from the Crimson Tide earlier this month, opted to go the football scholarship route with Alabama. He says he has committed to play baseball in Tuscaloosa as well.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder also held a football offers from the Gators as well as Boston College and Florida Atlantic. Beck has not yet received a 247Sports rating.
Beck returned to Tuscaloosa last Friday for an unofficial visit. "Alabama stands out too with their tradition and what Coach (Nick) Saban has done there and the things he’s built along with their facilities," Beck told 247Sports' Blake Alderman earlier this month.

The Sunshine State native is the fourth commitment of the Tide's 2020 class. He joins four-star receiver Dazalin Worsham of Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville, four-star inside linebacker Jackson Bratton of Muscle Shoals (Ala.) and four-star cornerback Javier Morton of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson. The quartet of Tide commitments rank No. 4 in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, just a point behind Texas A&M in the No. 3 spot.
As strong as the Tide's 2019 class has surged in recent months, the 2020 cycle has kept somewhat of a pace considering how early it still is. Alabama has landed both Worsham and Bratton this spring, and is hoping for good news on Monday, July 2, when the state's top player in the class, four-star defensive tackle Jayson Jones, announces his college commitment.
The Tide looks set at the signal caller position in the 2019 cycle with a pair of commitments from four-stars Paul Tyson and Taulia Tagovailoa. Alabama has hosted and offered several 2020 quarterbacks this spring, Including five-star signal caller DJ Uiagalelei, four-star Georgia native Harrison Bailey, and recent offer recipient CJ Dixon to name a few. It's too early in the process to imagine this will keep the Tide from continuing to pursue those prospects as well as others Nick Saban and staff continue to evaluate.
Side note: This is the second time we've seen the Tide dip into the Jacksonville area for a quarterback recruit. In the 2017 cycle, after Alabama had already landed Tua Tagovailoa, the Tide flipped Kentucky commit Mac Jones from the Wildcats into what became a two-quarterback class.

He throws a nice long ball. Not a ton of zip on the intermediate throws but seems accurate (although that's hard to tell from highlight videos. Hurts looked accurate in his highlight videos)

Carson Beck
I’m totally unqualified to evaluate HS Sophomore Qbs, but why not:
Only a four game sample size but he looks promising to me. Looks like maybe a mix of AJ and Coker perhaps without quite the arm strength (as of now) but great touch and fairly good athleticism for a tall dude. Additionally, I doubt arm strength is an issue if he’s that great a baseball prospect and was a take this early. Also, hard to doubt Enos - not that dudes first rodeo.
Excited to have him on board and excited to address Qb so early.
I, of course, defer to Saint on Qbs.
Dude definitely looks like a Carson.

Carson Beck performed very well when he camped at Bama. He has good measurables, a strong arm, makes all the throws, mobile, a natural leader and high-character. He checked every box for the staff, became an immediate priority and was offered. It's the offer he wanted. He went home, cancelled his planned Miami and UT visits and committed. Game over.

Alabama put an offer out to Nakobe Dean's 2020 teammate, DT Josiah Hayes. I've heard this guy is the next big thing out of Horn Lake. Got a chance to meet him in person and he certainly passes the eye test.

One of the "insiders" on BOL says Jerrion Ealy has dropped down the board.
Interesting.
Interesting.

He also said Jeffery Carter may not be a take.
