Anything that locks a kid in and strips his rights away is bad for the student athlete.
The coaching shite-show will be 3 months long (NFL jobs pulling college coaches continues the carousel into February).
Once Kirby gets his 20 early commits in the bag, his job is easier going into february.
If a kid wants to shut down his recruitment, tell the recruiters to leave him and his family alone. I swear to you that the coaches will respect that request up until there are coaching changes at his intended school. No coach wants to be called out publicly a family for harassment.

Its going to play havoc with college coaches jobs.
With the early signing period do you dare to wait till the end of the season to fire a bad coach? And if you do fire him early the pressure is on to announce your new guy... even though he's still coaching at his current school.
Not just head coaches but Coordinators too. If your OC has accepted a head coaching gig the pressure for him to start right away on emergency recruiting is going to be huge. Not an ideal situation if you are trying to get your team ready for a conference championship or big bowl game.
Schools that can establish some continuity, same head coach, same coordinators, are going to make out like bandits.

It'll benefit non-power schools more than anybody, IMO. They'll be able to lock down the kids that typically would be getting an SEC offer when teams have to go to their backup options in February.

To an extent, maybe... at least for this year before P5 programs adjust.
The programs who have established relationships and solid committed classes are already moving on to “backup” plans... they’re just doing it now instead of a month from now.

By Bama not having to play in the SEC championship game gave them an extra week to work on recruiting.

Still much better for the smaller schools to have 1.5 months to turn around and fill a class after that than have the rug pulled out from under them on signing day.

How many is every team expecting to sign? Mizzou looks to be signing about 19.

This is supposed to protect the rest of college football from the same 12 teams that dominate recruiting every year. Instead, I think you will see those elite recruiting teams raid the rest of college football even more so during the FEB signing day to get that last guy in a class.

UGA is projecting 17-21.
The Big question is hoe many assistant coaches announce new gigs on Thursday? That's what I find to be a BS move. Georgia would've totally missed out on Roquan Smith if his recruiter at UCLA hadnt gotten a job with the Falcons and the news leaked early.

I wish we had a recruiting board.

The only thing that would lock a kid in and strip away his rights is if he himself decided to go ahead and sign. Nobody is physically forcing these kids to sign early. Additionally, I'd project that at least 30% of them will all be enrolled for the spring semester anyway.

Meh, they hay should already be in the barn long before now for the early signing period.
Should be and reality are often different.
