Waiting for the additional Bowl bans so they don't have to sit out a year.

Yup pretty much... I don't think we fall too far from the pack as long as Lord Saban keeps his grip on the west.

Why would they transfer out before the NCAA lays the hammer and gives them all releases?

"RE: Ole miss will not fall very far, and may actually improve recruiting..."
Bowl ban hurting recruiting and team player retention? You have to be shiteing me. Last year established the precedent that top players will skip a bowl game and the rest don't give a shite. Bowl ban hurting recruiting? Really? You really believe that?
To those that lack the power of sequential imagination through no fault of their own but rather simply because of a failure in their inherited genes, I'll explain this seemingly antithetical conclusion:
The days of mass transfers, program collapse, etc., are over. A team can rapidly fill up with jr. college players, and in a time of near-free agency, find transfer leadership on the market, players looking for a senior or graduate year to get NFL noticed.
Ole Miss is a brand, a nice address, and a chance to play in the SEC. As has been shown by the scant success of transfers (except maybe QB - and even Alabama transfer QBs have had trouble getting a starting job elsewhere) to other programs, staying in the SEC has its benefits.
Who at Ole Miss would think it in their interest to transfer to... say ... SMU or Utah? I believe people are thinking about how things were 20 years ago when they imagine a program going deep in the tank. The scholly limit will hurt, but not as bad as people think because of the attraction to JC players, etc., wanting to take a stab at the SEC for NFL exposure and who are willing to "walk on" (yeh - right) in return for the "benefits" Ole Miss is so well known for...

This, there's been no great reason to transfer knowing if the NCAA comes down hard enough they can transfer and play right away elsewhere vs. sitting out. At this point they'll get this last season at Ole Miss then after the season once the sanctions come down you'll see the mass exodus since they'll get the waiver to play right away.

Every football game is on TV nowadays. They get just as much exposure at Utah or SMU as anywhere else. The quality of play is a different story, but if a kid can play, he's going to stand out at one of those schools, so I can easily see transferring there as a much more viable option than playing for a team lost in the wilderness for the better part of a decade.

I dont think your math is correct
30 over 4 is roughly 7.5 a year less. So lets move it to 8
Can sign 17 players a year, over 4 years that is 68 players. This also doesnt count your 5 year players.

Dude - most of the rest of CF, even in power 5 conferences, IS the "wilderness" compared to the SEC...even Missouri, Kentucky, Vandy, etc. Please get that straight... there is nothing to be gained for any player by playing for ... say ... Iowa State rather than Ole Miss, even an old Miss on probation. Furthermore, who said they are going to be in the wilderness? YOU DID... my point was NO THEY ARN'T...they may not have the depth to compete for a championship (but they weren't really that competitive on that level before anyway). But they will not be "bad."
Sorry my friend, but if you think that, it just proves my previous point about inherited gene failure being responsible for lack of imagination. I recommend get over the famous SECr group think and consider the problem with fresh eyes. Ciao

Jack, they are going to have to be dead right on every player they bring in because there will be no room for recruiting mistakes. They can't suffer from any "normal" attrition while on probation because depth will be paper thin for years. They can't have a coaching carousel in any phase or that just adds another nail to the coffin. They basically have to get every evaluation dead on, get them to campus, develop them and get them to stay for their full duration to have any chance to compete in this conference.
Sorry, I just don't see how they can get better or even stay "as is" in the wake of scholarship cuts, recruiting/evaluation cuts, AND the inability to use the inducements they've used in the past to get interested recruits to visit and sign on with OM.

Nah bro. Their next coach is going to average top 15 classes just like Hugh Freeze did at Ole fricking Miss.
Jacknola proves yet again that he has no clue what the frick he's talking about.

Doesn't matter what we believe. OlMiss believed it enough to lie to 17 yr old recruits and tell them that everything was going to be A-OK.
So it was/is obviously an issue.
Wait, are you one of the "when they get on campus they fall in love with OledMiss" crowd?
Posted on 8/14/17 at 3:16 pm to Quicksilver
Need to wait till the 2 year ban is given so they can leave without having to sitout. Pretty simple.
