NFL gig would have to be the perfect gig for Saban to bolt at this point, franchise QB already in place, but that's not the teams looking for coaches.
I agree with Finebaum, those NFL teams would not be asking if not for interest by Saban's agent.
Then again, Saban has no more leverage with other college jobs, his only way to get raises from Bama is to keep that 1% NFL job out there.

Bama gives him whatever he wants, why leave even if he doesn't care for it

It's called being committed to winning while fostering and growing the established winning culture. It would be different if there was no justification for his requests. Everything he's requested that has been provided has provided tangible return on investment.

b/c he could go to any school in the country (save maybe OSU) and get whatever he wants there too. he's got options at any given time, but he's developed relationships and a life in Alabama for himself and his family.
(and, yes, he could have contacted LSU during your "search" and said "I'll take the job for $X" and you guys would have pulled every muscle in your body trying to say yes fast enough)

That's an interesting discussion. At what number does LSU (or really any school) say no? Obviously it would vary a bit by school.
But let's just say A&M is fed up with Sumlin and they are looking to make a splash. They call up Jimmy Sexton and he tells them Saban wants $10m/ year. They probably say yes. But at what point is the money just too much? $15m/year? $20m/year?
I mean if you pay a guy $15m and that results in your profit increasing by $50m, that's got to make financial sense right?

Sexton could just call Bama and say that and Bama would increase his salary to $10M/year without Saban having to move away from his lake house (in T-town & GA), move away from his business in Bham, his kids/grandkids, and without having to move his mom out of the premier sr living community in Bham and find her one in some other town.
Someone would have to start in the $12M range to get his attention and be close to the point that Bama wouldn't match, and even then that's a number they'd likely match.

You're missing the point. It's not about Saban being willing to leave. We are starting at the point of Saban wants out and wants to command an astronomical salary.
If he says he wants $20m/year, does A&M say no? USC? Notre Dame? What salary demand could he make that no one would be willing to go that high

I would say that there are very few Schools that would pay him more than Bama at this point. It is not about how good a coach he is now, it is about his age. It would take him at least two seasons to turn a program around, and another two to get it to the point that he wants. I do not think he wants to commit to another organization for 5-7 years.

The point is he is a complete control freak and no where will he have the control he has at Bama.He can literally get away with murder at that program

It's been 10 years since he failed in the NFL and his NFL failures have led you Alabama's recent greatness. Bama fans need to let it go! His NFL failures are no reflection on your school!
Take a deep breath in, AND LET THAT SHITE GO!

Miami is still pissed at that NFL failure for leaving them at the altar.

You forgot to add that the NFL doesn't allow an unlevel playing field. He can't have larger support staffs than anyone else and the talent is dispersed more evenly.
He wouldn't be able to out talent his opponents, or manipulate the schedule or League to gain an advantage.

He must be slipping with time, when he was at LSU he was turning down a minimum of 32 NFL jobs every year
Posted on 3/2/17 at 9:38 pm to LC412000
Same payroll, no control over scheduling, no control over refs, can't cheat unless you are New England. I can't believe he would not jump right on it
