Sounds reasonable.

I definitely don’t believe that quote though, I really doubt the staff is willing to take the first to comit. If that were true i think Foster would have pulled the trigger.

What you’ve guessed sounds more reasonable.

Yeah, the signs seem to indicate Foster is likely 3rd in line.

Writers are careful to quote accurately, but they do select which quote segments to include.

It's also possible Purdy was just inconsistent in what he said to the two different writers.

From the 1st article:
quote:

“I’m not really sure how that’s going to work out,” Purdy said of the QB situation. “Coach Saban told me this morning that they’re going to take one quarterback, but he said that after today — because they had James Foster in last weekend then Brevin and I this weekend — he’s going to talk to the staff and break down what guy they should go after. He said if that guy takes the opportunity, great, if not, we’ll go to the next guy. They have three offers out right now, but we’re not really sure how they’re going to approach it.”

From the 2nd article:
quote:

Purdy said he will make his decision on National Signing Day. His top 3 is Alabama, Iowa State and UCF. As far as where Alabama stands with him, the coaching staff told him that it will accept a commitment from him if he wants in.

“Basically, they have 3 offers out and whoever commits will have the spot,” Purdy said. “Coach Saban said I would be developed as a QB if I went there.”

It looks like Purdy explained more to the first writer than he did to the 2nd writer. In the bold segment of the 2nd article, the writer basically says Purdy has a commitable offer. Then Purdy says whoever commits 1st has the spot. In the first article Purdy explained that the staff is going to determine who gets the 1st, 2nd & 3rd chance to commit. So, what Purdy said in the 2nd article actually doesn't conflict with what he said in the 1st article.

Am I the only one that witnessed Marlon Humphrey getting burnt every single game?

I wonder why Pruitt, and the rest of the staff have ITS ranked so low.

Gotta be something. Maybe he's dumber than a bag of hammers or something ?

Don't think there is much doubt at this point Eddie Smith is higher on the board.

Think every cb let’s someone get behind them every game. Sometimes ball is overthrown or not at all.

Drew Dearmond says we won't sign JJ or ITS...

He also says we're pretty likely to sign Campbell and/or Griffin. Someone with good credibility thinks Drew may not be so well informed on the DB situations.

Yeah, it appears Campbell and Griffin are least likely. It seems much more likely we land 2-3 among Surtain, ITS, Smith and Irvin.

Julius Irvin got a CB to USC. Could that be a good sign that we have guys higher on our board locked up?

Alabama DB target Julius Irvin set to make decision between 3 schools this week
SEC Country

quote:

One of Alabama’s top defensive back targets is set to come off the board this Wednesday.

Julius Irvin, a 4-star safety from Servite High School (Anaheim, Calif.), will commit to either Alabama, Southern California or Washington when he makes his decision. What remains unclear is where Irvin exactly stands on the board at defensive back for the Tide.

Alabama has 3 defensive backs signed in the 2018 class in 4-star prospects Jalyn Armour-Davis, Josh Jobe and Saivion Smith. The team would like to add at least 2 more for the position group.

Here’s a look at who else the team is recruiting in the secondary along with Irvin:

5-star cornerback Tyson Campbell

5-star cornerback Olaijah Griffin

5-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr.

5-star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart

3-star cornerback Eddie Smith

All of those players have taken official visits to Tuscaloosa, so it’s going to come down to which players want in at this point. I know Alabama is fond of Irvin, but as stated above, it’s not clear where he exactly stands on the pecking order.

UPDATE: I received word from a source close to the program that Irvin does have a committable offer.

Per BOL Saban will visit Irvin Tuesday.

Don’t think so. Just think we got on him late or maybe he wants to stay out west
