Class of 2016 by the numbers
The largest group of incoming students – 38.1 percent – graduated from California high schools.
The next top five regions represented in the class are the South (15.1 percent); international students and U.S. students who completed high school studying abroad (9.7 percent); the Mid-Atlantic (9.2 percent); Far West – Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii (8 percent); and the Mid-West (7.8 percent). The other regions are Mountain States (6.3 percent); New England (3.7 percent); and the Great Plains (1.8 percent).
Not only do they get students from the south, but we're the largest contributor (by a pretty healthy margin) to their incoming 2016 student body outside of California.

Stanford is a great college. No reason to blast us poor uneducated folks. I think Shaw is a good coach and will not hold this against him.
If I remember correctly, Harbaugh said something similar directed straight at Michigan, when he was the Stanford head coach.

He's not talking about the student body. He's talking about the football players. And you and I both know SEC football players aren't going to school to become molecular physicists. They're going to school to get huge and whip arse. That's the way we like it, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Oddly enough, when my poop scored a 33, it was offered a full ride to Stanford, no SAT required.

Is Shaw really going to pretend that Stanford athletes don't get preferential treatment with admissions?

Feel free to read through my comments in the other thread. I've already broken down how the admission requirements are not as stringent as Shaw would have you believe. Scrooster and others have already gone through and shown how many players from the southern states are getting offers from there. Ultimately, it's Shaw taking a shot... an inaccurate one, but a shot nonetheless.
Ultimately, yes there is a difference is requirements and so Stanford does have to be more selective. It likely *isn't* in their best interest to hold satellite camps. *However*, several of the sec coaches also aren't certain it would have been a good usage of their time and resources, but would have done it if necessary. I'd be willing to bet that had the camps been allowed, Shaw and Stanford would have been out there with them... setting up a camp in ATL among several spots in the southeast.

weeds, let's say Stanford held a camp in South Carolina for the twenty best recruits in that state. And let's say USC-East held a camp in California for the twenty best recruits in that state.
What percentage of the CA recruits do you think would qualify for admission to USC-East. What percentage of the SC recruits would qualify for admission to Stanford?
The idea that Stanford has less to gain by holding camps far from CA seems pretty clear.
What he said seems harsh but come on, it's so obviously this. Jesus Christ people lighten up.

I mean, he might pretend, but I don't think most are buying it. Pretty sure the quote from Demetris Robertson was that he needed a 1400 on the SAT to get in... that's using the new point system (out of 2400), so that's the equivalent of about a 930... aka, below the median for UGA's football admission average from 2009-2014 (likely not below our min) and likely several other southern programs (UF, aTm, and even USCe most likely - not even accounting for Vandy).

So, no. he's not right. If a white person had said that the SJW crowd would be triggered, it would have been called a microaggression and a safe space would have been required because of the institutional racism.
Especially at Stanford, holy shite.

Tell us when he pretended this?

So you're admitting that Shaw does indeed cast a wide net, hoping to get kids to commit, but that he is being dishonest insomuch as his people are not vetting the prospects first, before they commit, making sure they at least have a chance to qualify?
Sweet fricking Jesus, and you were laughing at what I was saying?
Every recruit who has ever wanted to go to Stanford knows that admission decisions aren't made until well after offers have gone out. In order to compete Stanford had to make offers to athletes who look like they might, but may not get admitted. And the amount of grief the admissions office gives to Stanford coaches varies. If Stanford waited until all of the athletes completed their junior classes and got their final SAT scores, they'd lose too many.
Shaw actually has a better rep than Harbaugh in terms of doing homework to make sure the folks he offers can gain admissions.
It's not dishonesty, it's what Stanford coaches have always had to deal with, and pretty much any who heard Shaw's statements would understand.
Other than guys like you who would rather be butt hurt and desperate to play the race card.

The concept of an early signing signing period would create challenges at Stanford that other schools would be immune to due to its strict admissions process. Shaw said that fewer than half of the program's recent 20-man recruiting class was admitted to the university before November, and the final admission didn't occur until the weekend before signing day.
