Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by. –Robert Frost
Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another. -Ernest Hemingway

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Being male is a matter of birth,
Being a man is a matter of age,
But, being a gentleman is a matter of choice.

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

Their silent tents to spread,
And glory guards, with solemn round
The bivouac of the dead."

Catch 22
"You mean there's a catch?"
"Sure there's a catch", Doc Daneeka replied. "Catch-22. Anyone who wants to get out of combat duty isn't really crazy."
There was only one catch and that was Catch-22,
which specified that:
a concern for one's own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions.
Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane, he had to fly them. If he flew them, he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to, he was sane and had to.
Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

"When my arse was 19 years old, I changed the face of professional baseball. I was handed the keys to the kingdom. Multi-million dollar deals. Endorsements. Everyone wanted a piece of my shite. Just a man with a mind for victory and an arm like a fricking canon. But sometimes when you bring the thunder, you get lost in the storm. But a true champion, face to face in his darkest hour will do whatever it takes to rise above. A man fights, fights, and fights some more. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies. And my arse ain't no pussy. My arse is a fricking champion."

"I've been blessed with many things in this life: an arm like a damn rocket, a cock like a burmese python, and the mind of a fricking scientist."

During Battle of Franklin, TN
quote:
General Govan: “Well, General, few of us will ever return to Arkansas to tell the story of this battle.”
General Cleburne: “Well, Govan, if we are to die, let us die like men.”
