Bruce, AJ has never recruited but at the same time AJ`s personality may lend itself to being a really strong college coach. I said in an earlier thread when it looked like Bama might get Marshall that in a state where basketball will always be second it doesn`t hurt to have a big personality guy like Bruce, Wimp or Sonny to build interest. AJ seems to have those traits.

A more interesting and more competitive question would be Bruce and AU vs. AJ and Alabama.
This is based on Pearl losing 20 games this year. I guarantee you he didn't expect it. If he doesn't get to .500 this year, and AJ does with what he has coming back, this question may seen a bit clearer.
It's tough to win basketball games at Auburn - I don't know why, but it is.

My opinion, you're so little bro.

You have to have good players. We haven't had very many since Cliff Ellis was here.

Did I say I expect people to be scared anywhere in my post? It's the rant. Fans troll. People get excited about their coach. Hope springs eternal. You act like this is something exclusive to Alabama fans.
I don't know many fan bases that fabricate the existence of NBA Titles, do you?

So, let's cover why Alabama is excited over having Avery Johnson as Head Basketball Coach...
Won NBA Championship as player
Sounded good in presser
Was NBA Coach of the Year
Went to NBA Finals as NBA Head Coach
Expected to bring excitement to sport
Now, let's cover why Alabama should not be excited over having Avery Johnson as Head Basketball Coach...
No experience as a college basketball coach
No experience recruiting high school recruits
No experience at all in Power 5 league
Fired from 2 jobs in NBA
Has to recruit and coach against Bruce Pearl
Averaged 36 wins per year as NBA coach
Losing record in playoffs as NBA coach
Was on ESPN because he couldn't find NBA job
He's short

Little brother application denied. Quality attempt though. How's rehab going?

Are you really using 2 seasons in which he coached a total of 36 games plus a strike shortened season to make his accomplishments look worse?
That's a tad pathetic. He had a .577 winning percentage. That equates to averaging 47 wins a year, or 12 games over .500

Not a single person has said Avery in the entire thread (gump votes are too fricking stupid to count in all honesty).
Question has been answered. Avery is not in the same universe as Bruce, but we knew this before the question was even asked.

Bruce Pearl's accomplishment are as followed:
2 x SEC Coach of the Year (2006 and 2008)
3 x Horizon League Coach of the Year (2003, 2004 and 2005)
Adolph Rupp National Coach of the Year (2008)
2008 SEC Champs
NCAA Men's Division II Tournament Champs (1995)
Horizon League Tournament Champs (2003, 2005)
Horizon League Regular Season Champs (2004, 2005)
Coaching record of 476-163
1 losing season as Head Coach (rebuilding at Auburn)
Made NCAA Tournament in 8/10 attempts (Auburn, Tennessee and Milwaukee)

Neither.

Heck Grant went toe to toe with him while he was at Tennessee. So did Gottfried until the wheels fell off.
Nobody at Alabama is scared of Bruce Pearl.

Anyways, I don't think Avery Johnson is a bad hire. As I have stated, I rated it as a 6/10 hire due to it being so questionable.
As it stands, everyone would take Bruce Pearl over Avery Johnson (except Alabama fans).

Anthony Grant was set to return until Auburn went HAM in the SEC Tournament (per reports). The success of Auburn and Bruce Pearl forced the hand of Bill Battle, and he decided to fire him.
Posted on 4/8/15 at 6:46 pm to TTsTowel
The majority of people at Alabama wanted Grant fired before Auburn even fired Tony Barbee. Maybe that was the straw that finally broke Battle's stubborn arse back, but winning 3 SECT games didn't change anyone else's opinion in the fanbase because it had been changed long long before. It had to do with the fact that our program was a damned disaster. Pearl showing up didn't help because he's a good coach and brought excitement and was the antithesis to Grant's mummy like approach.
However, I will give my sincerest thanks to Bruce and the boys for winning a few games. Without it Battle would have sold us another shitty Battle Plan.
