Alabama made a mistake bringing in Taylor. Anyone who wants to make that point can swing away, because we did.

If you want to pretend that this proves that Alabama is a different animal from your program, and that our players are thugs and criminals while yours are scholar athletes, then forgive me if I laugh.

Carry on, Gents.

Clearly Mark Richt has lost control of Nick Saban.

I will post this at the beginning of my post and at the end to make sure its not missed: I'm not blaming the female in this event!

Now, I'm basing this on the assumption that the female and Taylor were in some sort of a relationship here. And we all know what you do when you assume, but anyway.....
Was this young lady (assuming they were in some sort of relationship) not also giving the guy a 2nd or 3rd chance? What was her motivation for (assuming) dating a guy with this history who happened to be really good at football?

I agree with everything said that Saban blew it by taking a chance on this guy with his program, but any female that is with this dude is taking a chance with their life. I see that as a much bigger mistake.

Again: I'm not saying the girl did anything to deserve this. Just posting a new different way to look at who all got played by this guy for whatever their motives were.

Awful opinion piece. The author is either naive or trolling for clicks. I'm guessing both.

ESPN is awful, and trending towards fricking terrible. They are shite, and now they are shitting all over Alabama.

Every time there is the slightest (not that the Taylor thing is slight - it's horrible) negative story about Alabama rival fans jump on board because they desperately hope it signals the end of:

They know that as long as Bama continues to recruit well, the Tide will continue to be THE team in the conference.

Alabama took a foolish chance on Taylor for one reason. After watching Ohio State's offensive line push around his defensive line in a 42-35 loss in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, Saban wanted to make sure it didn't happen again.

Ohio State manhandled that DLine so bad the Tide have to get thugs and criminals to play for them....Urbz fault!

Saban is payed millions to do one thing. Win lots and lots of football games/championships. He's not there to mold young men to be fine, morally upstanding individuals. He's there to coach football players to the absolute maximum of their ability and get them to the pros if possible. He's a football coach at the University of Alabama...aka an Elite program.

He isn't their pastor, he isn't their father-figure, he isn't their spiritual mentor. He's their football coach. He is there to win games. Winning games brings in an absurd amount of money and he's done nothing short of a tremendous job. This is Alabama, not the University of Chicago football team. This article is idiotic and a waste of time. Stop acting like the majority of these "bigtime programs/conferences" are molding these men to be upstanding community leaders. That will get you fired immediately. You're there to win and win now.

Updykes are getting an early start on the fulmer cup this year.

This kid can share a cell with all the Tuscaloosa c-block legends, Dre Kirkpatrick, dee hart, rolando McClain, Marcell Darius, DJ pettway.... The list goes on and on.

For real though, someone needs to make a prison just for former updykes to give these hardened criminals something to do in the yard. Gather up all of the washed up single-season NFL talent, and you have 2 teams there. Shitfire, you can even get Harvey updkye to put on some skimpy houndstooth shorts and cheerlead for retards and get good ole t-town Tom al-betarkhumenei to have his Asian sweatshop sew up a couple of uniforms.

Oh how quickly ESPN forgets Zach Mettenberger huh?

It is absolutely true that Bama took a huge risk by taking him in but at the same time at some point Saban and others on staff thought or felt like he could be helped with another chance

He failed miserably obviously

saban probably shouldn't have signed the guy, but he took a chance and it blew up in his face.

espn, like all talking-point news/media, will milk this for days until something else springs up. the opinion of espn means absolutely nothing.
