But in all seriousness the Raiders and Rams will both be back in LA in the next 3 years.

The post dispatch always gave Mizzou a lot of coverage--Bryan Burwell in particular
not to rain on your dialog but Burwell was a relative newcomer to the P-D that knew practically nothing about the history of Mizzou and had a tendency to parrot the "racism" talking points he picked up from the inner city black coaches, I wouldn't give two barfs about anything Burwell ever had to say about the Tigers. Not to speak too ill of the dead, Burwell was at least a good "fluff piece" writer, if you put any stock in that "art". Otoh, Gordon, a MU grad at the P-D had at least a little working knowledge of what was going on, so now that they have hired Matter to be the Tigers beat writer they are at least running with a little fuel in the tank.

Most Falcons fans tend to be bigger UGA, Bama, or Auurn fans
As for baseball, the Braves obviously dwarf any of the college teams but that's not saying much.
Nobody cares about basketball beyond a casual "well, there's nothing else really going on between football and baseball season" in Georgia.

been to plenty of Bravo games,, tons of Gump plates in the parking lots...
Do you think the Braves reloc to Marietta will hurt turnout in Athens? (yea no, not even serious)

Its about choices. Ohio State is more popular then these teams in general in Ohio. All these teams outside of Browns have attendance issues.
Its a pretty simple economic concept.
Correlation =/= causation though.
Is it Ohio State themselves that are keeping those pro teams from doing well or is it poor management of those teams, the shift among a lot of sports to in home viewing vs. stadium attendance, etc.?

I think the opposite is true. Football fans love football and rooting for one team probably "spills over" into rooting for the other.

It isn't a zero sum game though. If I can afford to go to one football game, I can afford to go to two football games.
College games probably don't "displace" pro attendance.

Yea I just don't buy that the Titans and Predators hurt the Vols. Tons and tons of UT fans I know are fans of multiple teams in leagues. All pro sport teams have done for the state of Tennessee is give us entertainment options and show that our economy can actually support multiple sport leagues,

Don't knock the bandwagon, bruh. Just think of all the t-shirt sales.

Not in the south college sports are king down here. Up north and out west it is a different story though.

There are many factors obviously but limited discretionary income creates choices and is big part of the equation.
Money and time.

Or to NO football games, and go to the opera instead, it's not a dichotomy either. Which is the only explanation for a coastal located team to fail, since the population numbers are clearly there to support them.

and vice versa, most likely if you can afford one you can afford both, and if you couldn't it doesn't mean you still aren't a fan.

All of my friends from STL give zero fricks about the rams.
LA County alone has over 10 million people. It's asinine LA doesn't have an NFL team.
LA>>>>BillionX>>>>stl

Its not about being "pried away" its about the casual fan choosing to spend their limited discretionary income.
Exactly.
It is cheaper and easier for a family from either metro area to attend a pro game over heading to CoMo.

not from STL and never lived there, but me too really, though it was kinda fun watching the Greatest Show on Earth win a SupaBowl, now when it came to Jim Hart to Mel Gray TD passes I never missed a single one,, not one! Btw I'm fairly certain that Bill Bidwell is Don Denkiengers butt-baby twin.

If the tickets will sell, then so be it, it is a business after all. Even if they show up late just in time for the 2nd quarter and nobody cares if the owner is a closet xenophobe, that just makes the event more swank, right? Fukking left coast hipsters, I hate the turds!

Not at all. If anything, it makes it easier for the bros in Athens to crash at their parents houses in the north metro area after they get shithoused before the 3rd inning. The Braves relocating may actually end up inspiring more suburban baseball fans, thereby increasing fans of the Diamond Dawgs

I'm assuming you've seen "the map".. if not:

another good map that shows Cardinals fans fit in the SEC as well or better than the B10..

I chimed in at the beginning of this thread about limited entertainment funds. Kilo, once again, we are on the same page. If a fan has a family to support, and has multiple choices in sports teams, of course it plays a role and is part of the equation. This is so common sense, it shouldn't even be debatable.
Now if you consider a fan just turning on the games he/she is a fan of and doesn't attend games, buys no merchandise anyways, that's a different story, and doesn't really hurt any of the teams. We are talking about the almighty dollar though and where it will be spent.
