Risky move bobo

All he had to do was coach the offense for probably five more years before Richt decided he didn't want to do it anymore. His salary shouldn't have been an issue because 500,000 is plenty in Athens. What the hell would one do as a millionaire in Athens?
Instead, he risks his entire head coaching career heading to an area of the country he's never been before and can't get recruits to come to.
ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS WAIT JUST A FEW MORE YEARS, WHAT A FRICKIN IDIOT! Once he flames out up there, no one is going to give him a head coaching position and Pruitt will be first to get an interview when Bobo would've been favored. Absolute idiot.

or he could say "hey, look how well I did as a head coach", as opposed to being a coordinator his whole career and trying to take the UGA job.

Colorado is probably one of the best places to land a coaching job IMO.

It's possible that Bobo was told UGA would prefer someone who has head coaching experience for our next hire. I think that's a good strategy and Bobo took what was available. If he does a decent job over the next few seasons, teams will take into account the fact that CSU is not a strong program. If he completely flops, then we've dodged a bullet.

Probably the same one would do anywhere else.

Possible, depends on how well he does at Colorado St. However, in the short term he got his first HC position, a huge raise and an opportunity to advance his career. As for Richt, he's not at all old so he could coach at UGA for 10 more years; who can say? Bobo might well be prepared to come home as our replacement by then. Only time will tell. But one thing you can count on is our admins will not be bringing in a high profile/expensive replacement for Richt when the time comes.

For an adult, maybe. For a guy trying to raise five or six kids in a state where recreational weed is legal.....poor parenting move, imo.

Could you not have posted this in one of the other 700 Bobo threads?

Are you serious? You must have no connections if you think it's any harder to get in Georgia than Colorado.

Would you rather him flame out in Athens instead?... I don't get this line of thinking.
Bobo is following a coach who runs a system similar to the UGA "O" that Bobo knows so the players are already familiar with & were recruited for the pro-style system that Bobo runs. That's much better situation than trying to change from a spread team into a pro-style team.
BSU & BYU are no longer in the Mtn. West so the talent he's going to be going against isn't overwhelming as it would be if he were going to UK or Wake Forest for instance...
The administration at CSU has shown they are committed to their football program by casting a nationwide net for guys like McElwain & Bobo. Even tho Bobo isn't personally known by a ton the HS coaches out west his reputation precedes him & the things that make him a great recruiter in the SE will become quickly apparent to the HS coaches & kids out there...
JMO, but I see it as a great opportunity for CMB to prove he has what it takes. If he "flames out" in Ft. Collins the odds are that he would've "flamed out" in Athens also...

And to think...just a few short weeks ago if anyone brought up the idea of Bobo sliding into the HC job the general consensus is that we can't hire anyone without HC experience....or another coordinator.
IMO he had to do this to ever be a serious contender for the UGA spot.

So if someone comes in and offers to promote you and triple your pay, are you gonna say "na, I'd rather sit back and not worry about that and just hope a similar position that pays a little better may fall in my lap in about a decade or so"?
Bobo did what any driven person would do. And congrats to him for earning it.

Me? No, I don't because I don't "roll". If I wanted it, yeah, I could get it. It's still exponentially easier when it's as readily available as a coke in a convenience store. To argue otherwise is pure foolishness.

Right now Bobo has a bird in his hand and the two birds in the bushes are waiting for later. The HC move was smart.

"His salary shouldn't have been an issue because 500,000 is plenty in Athens."
Just love the idiots who presume to tell people how much they should "be willing"to do their job. Sure you would stand pat and decline a million dollar raise.
"What the hell would one do as a millionaire in Athens?"
Probably the same as one in Alpharetta or Valdosta. Your disappointment in his decision is born of selfishness and in how it could potentially affect something YOU care about(UGA football). You couldn't care less about Bobo or his aspirations and your logic(or lack thereof) bears that out.

I love Georgia, will be raising a family in Georgia and wish Bobo had stayed, but to say Colorado is more dangerous than Georgia is absurd. Legalized weed isn't going to bring Colorado's crime rate anywhere near Georgia's.
Not trying to make this a legalized pot debate but that was pretty silly.

The tired and worn out interpretation of most UGA fans (South of Macon) is so annoying.
