Featuring exactly nobody from Georgia.........
Lots of gays though.

Which featured bands with aging gay spokespersons...........out of all the infinite other bands they could have included.......... did you play key-tar for?
Seriously. If I watched that video and didn't know better, I'd think Athens was something it's not here. Or at least it wasn't.

I liked the Medicine Bow shirt. I went there back in the day with Mark Warren. The truth is though that a lot of the early Athens music scene had plenty of gay artists in them. Fairly obvious in watching this. I liked REM but never liked the B52's and never heard of Pylon or any of these bands other than Elf Power who the Flagpole was always championing when I went there.

pylon was just a great live band. Pretty sure only one person in that band was gay and he is gay, but is actually a good dude.
No one gay in 5/8 and the drummer went to UGA and was from Columbus. He was not gay, but his twin brother was...Go figure....

I guess it’s just too hard to cover all of Athens music scene in 10 minutes. When you only focus on a few bands for 10 minutes…whoever those may be…..you’re gonna leave a bunch of the story untold.
As far as the gays, there always seems to be a lot of that, for whatever reason, in every artistic community…and I guess Athens is no different.
Just seemed like they picked the fruitier side of Athens to portray to me, which isn't what immediately comes to mind for me when I think about Athens music. I mean, the lady doing puppet shows seems about as obscure as you can get......and was an interesting choice for a Budweiser commercial don't yopu think?

Something. Tells me it was a mix of who the film dude could get to talk due to relationships and who the film guy could get to talk....

What band was Ted in before he jumped off the parking deck?

Interesting that some people watch this vid and think "gays representing Athens". Just an interesting take on Athens music history is all.

Sorry? Went there 2000-03. Never heard of them to my knowledge.
