Seems likely we will get him. Apparently a headcase though.

Sounds like the staff really, really wants Johnson along with House and Thomas from Houston. Thomas may be able to graduate and get eligible which would leave them with room for Cofer and two 5th year guys.

What are you hearing about Cofer and Turman? And were they granted Full Releases?

Haven't heard anything about Turman. He isn't coming to Tennessee though. Tyndall is meeting with Cofer and his family today. That one is probably 50/50. Both were granted full releases.

We have an open spot. I would love to add either.

Slive is going to have to grant a waiver for them to come to any SEC school besides UT. Alabama and Auburn are fighting that same battle too.

I don't see why he wouldn't. He wants to raise the basketball profile of the league, he shouldn't block them and give other conferences more ammo to recruit against the SEC.

Normally they don't allow it because the SEC school that a recruit is released from is still under consideration. With Turman refusing to meet with Tyndall, I think a waiver might be given. Turman's grades are still in question though.

Well, it looks like you guys will have the oldest roster in the conference.

Cofer met with Tyndall tonight. Seems to be down to Tennessee and GT. Will likely officially visit Tennessee in the next few weeks.

FSU and GT also in the picture. May officially visit Tennessee Wednesday.
Doesn't sound like Tennessee expects SEC to grant waivers to Turman or Cofer.

That would suck since Alabama has contacted both guys. I guess it shows our staff has/had hope

I can see why you say that about Cofer, but I'm not sure why the SEC wouldn't grant Turman a waiver. That rule was set in place to help SEC teams going through a coaching change. No chance Turman is going to UT.

It's very rare for an SEC waver to get passed in order for a former SEC signee to go directly to another SEC program, so Tennessee feels pretty confident that Cofer won't be able to go to Auburn or Bama or somewhere like that unless he wants to be a walk-on for two years. And they won't want to do that.
This is what Wes Rucker said. Not sure why it would be different for Turman, but maybe it would.

Isn't Cofer taking an OV to Florida State this weekend?
