I'm not reading this thread, but I'll assume that a message board full of people from the southeast think he's a non-native communist.

Eh, no, not really. There's been significant discussion on his policies and attitudes, and the results.
We did have a two-page detour of, "I like Obama, but I never said I liked Obama," and a comparison of Obama's oratory skills to someone named Adolf.

So, you assume what you are guilty of?

You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't read page 6.

Speaking of prejudice . .

I just think it's sad that people can't get past race
Race has nothing to do with how I feel about his policies and leadership of this country. I'd dislike him if he were white, blue, purple or green. Hell, I wouldn't like him if he was a she.

He seems like a cool guy to hang out with. I haven't paid much attention to what he's actually done while in office.

It is much easier for libs to say people don't like obama because of race than to discuss his policies and why they are bad. I think he is much like all the recent presidents we have had, which is he is terrible. We are in a pretty terrible stretch of presidents right now and on top of that he comes off as a loser. He can't reach home from the mound, he wears mom jeans and wears a helmet while riding a bike. He is also the low man on the totem pole when it comes to foreign policy. Putin is styling on him over and over again.

But didn't you hear, the 1980's called and they want their foreign policy back.
Also I am not sure if the current system still allows for someone who would be really good president to even get far enough to be a candidate.

Ron Paul proves that.
People are too fricking stupid today. Too many one issue voters, party line voters, etc.

quote:I think so, but I'm holding out hope for Rand. His foreign policy probably bothers a lot of people but I'm sure that his stance would change a bit once in office based on need. The only problem is republicans rip themselves apart in primaries because the dumb extremist refuse to back out and people think they need to be appeased so it forces a good potential guy to play to that and then get shredded in the general election.
Also I am not sure if the current system still allows for someone who would be really good president to even get far enough to be a candidate.
I also think the republicans have a terrible strategy in general in how they attack issues. they get drug into a name calling fight and they are always the ones to look bad in the media. Very few candidates come with a actual plan to change something or come out with a statement on why we don't need change. I would like to see one pull out history and show why more gov regulation is almost always a bad thing.
Then since one party is ruining themselves in the primaries the dems can just run some pathetic shell of a candidate they can play puppet with and we get people like obama in office.
It would serve the US well to get on a path back to true federalism but the large fed gov will never allow it.

That too, but I was more thinking along the lines of all the hoops you have to jump through. They must be almost perfect in their personal lives in order to do the quality job as president? I don't like that opinion that a lot of voters seem to hold.
If it got out before the election that one of the candidates had a glass of whiskey after work four or five nights a week I don't think he could win the election even though some of the most revered world leaders do the same thing. As you said people today are stupid.

the two party system is also a huge problem. we would be much better off with the rise of a third party but it is nearly impossible for that to happen because of how the rules are setup. then you force ron/rand paul into the republican party and it limits their capabilities.

I would argue we would be much better off restricting who can vote

It is embarrassing that George Washington called this at the very beginning and we didn't listen
And then both parties use sleight of hand and what I call political magic tricks to divert attention.
