Yeah... Mizzou has been impressive, but Kentucky has played a significantly harder schedule.

Yeah UNC seems like the only real bad loss considering their up and down season, but then again UNC also has wins @Michigan State & against Louisville. Their other 2 losses are to a top 5 team and a top 10 team.

Power rankings are supposed to be about how strong a team looks like right now. Kentucky just came off a victory over a top 15 team with their best player missing the entire second half.

Interested to see what Arky is looking like now.

Looks like we're both vying for that #4 spot going into next weeks rankings

Hey they almost came back against bama last night.

They wiped them up and down the court in the second half.

Right. They only managed to win a half against the team this poll has ranked at 11. Admittedly, they were without McClellan, but still. Not saying Vandy is terrible, but they aren't a top half of the conference team at the moment.

2) Missouri

Too high.

6) Tennessee

Too low.

Eta: Kentucky is going to finish in the top 3, at worst. How you rank them behind Missouri at this point is a mystery to me. We don't have anyone who can guard one of their big men. Let alone the next 4 of them.

I think it's based more on body of work up to the day of voting and not necessarily who you ultimately think is the better team or ranked higher by seasons end. Right now, UK, while having played a solid schedule, got their first quality win over Louisville. MU arguably has quality wins over UCLA and AT NC State. I have no problem, as of today, having MU ahead of UK, though I think that will change with time.

Exactly. If you look at the points, they are very, very close. I expect it to flip, probably fairly soon.

And this is based on body of work so far. The wide swings will probably diminish as we get into conference play. Things will become more clear.

Sadly, 1 of these teams is not winning. If the Tide were playing the same level schedule of most the conference, they would be at least solid middle of the pack. Will be interesting to see how the Tide fares in conference play.

Why is everyone so butthurt that Mizzou is CURRENTLY ranked higher than KY? Isn't KY the cancer of the SEC and therefore we're suppose to bash them all the time?

Or did I misread the memo?

And they'll probably rise as games are played, assuming they win.

We score like nobodies business.

We've had 10 different guys score in double figures and 6 guys have led us in scoring.. balance is crazy.

I always thought they were an air sign so that would make them Libra, Aquarius, or Gemini. Since Aquarius is late January to early February my guess is UK is Aquarius.

Cancer is a water sign and in summer. My guess is the SEC school with the best Swimming and Diving team is Cancer - probably Auburn.

I think Mizzou over KY is pretty nuts given the schedules they've played (does anyone think Mizzou would have a better record than KY playing their schedule), but I guess I can see where it is at least possible. I cannot, however, figure out how 7 people voted Mizzou as the top team in the conference. I am guessing if you looked at schedules only, but man this sure seems like one of the worst-looking 12-1 teams I think I have ever seen.

This is the part that confuses me and the fact that Kentucky didn't get a single #1 vote just seems weird. Florida's Kansas & Memphis wins have lost a bit of its shine in the past week or so. Plus the UConn loss looks worse consider who they have lost to recently.

It will all shake out in conference play. I don't know, but I'm guessing some of the voters looked at Mizzou's record and placed them #2 based on that. It's an understandable position. I expect we'll see a lot of movement in the numbers in the next few weeks.

I think a lot of people still have a bad taste in their mouth from last year's Kentucky team.

It will be interesting to see how well they travel. Not every SEC team packs there gym often, but they sure as hell do when Kentucky comes to town.
