Can't you put the ledger down for just one minute and THINK for yourself about what matchups you'd like to see happening in the SEC? ...what road games you'd like to see A&M make? ..what potential for rivalries are out there that might be more fun then adding up television revenues in your head?
What would be "fun" is making more money in TV revenue than the Big 12 schools we are surrounded by. More money is better facilities which is better recruits Big 12 teams don't get.
So what I want as an A&M fan is what makes the SEC Network the biggest money maker in college sports. So I want UNC and someone in Virginia.

Seriously doubt UVA would move to the SEC.
Best options from the ACC (legitimate chances) would be Fla. State, N.C. State, Clemson. I can't see UNC or UVA making the move.

Like I said before, VT and NC State and go home.

I never said it was plausible. I just said they should be a target.
Good to see you, Roger. I always enjoy our discourse.

UVA and UNC. I wouldn't want any other schools.

Yes, that would be fun.
Unfortunately I wouldn't be making any money at all by adding teams to the SEC, so I don't consider that when asked which teams I would pick.

That's funny, I actually enjoy watching football games more than thinking about how much money some network would make.
But I see you put the word 'fun' in quotes as if it is something with which you are unfamiliar. You much be an accountant or some shite. But then I guess after 100 years of getting beat down by Texas an aggie wouldn't really see the game of football as any kind of "fun".
But give it a try. Can you imagine a football team you'd like to see A&M play on a regular basis that wouldn't have you sitting in the stands thinking about how much more money the conference would be making if only it were a different team? IOW, can you remove money from the equation and focus purely on the game itself?

Football perspective: FSU & Clemson
New market perspective: VT & UNC
Blackballed: Texas & OU
As an A&M homer, I can admit that Texas just has so many damn resources (Money, political power, reputation, & Austin is a great city). The SEC move is such a recruiting and exposure advantage for A&M. The A&M-to-SEC move has also killed OU's recruiting in Texas.
And of all X-school is tied to X-school situations, I believe OU & OkSt is #1 on that list. No way OU leaves OkSt.
It makes me so happy that they are in their current situations. B12 has zero quality expansion candidates, and they would be such fish out of water (culturally & geographically) by moving to the PAC & B10.

We have the opportunity to play many prestigious, unique programs with the current structure. The SEC already offers its members great games in great venues alongside great fan bases.
It's a non-issue. Thus we focus on money.

If there is any talk of UNC or any other ACC school leaving the ACC for the SEC, that's old news in light of the fact that the conference schools recently assigned their TV rights to the ACC for a ten year period. Thus, even if a school wanted to leave, the conference would still maintain the tv rights for a decade. I think/hope this conference musical chairs has stopped for a while.
Also, the ACC strengthened its football by the addition of Louisville and the ND alliance.

UNC
UVA
Texas and OU would be options if they were options and they were willing to play nice... but expanding into NC and VA with the best respected major public universities in both states would be optimal
And yeah, obviously NC and UVA are not options atm either

OK, I will admit its hard to step back from the big picture. We have been shite on for so long, finally getting some traction is amazing and the primary want is to not jeopardize that. I would rather nothing happens, as no team in football benefits from the current arrangement like A&M does.
We are like Afgans that were just provided rocker launcher to fight the Soviets. Its a warzone here in Texas.
With that said, by your rules I chose VT and UNC. VT because the military synergy is great, UNC because we have enough football elites. I want a better basketball conference.

I have to agree here. I've seen a lot of people say that they want OU but that they don't want OSU. I don't want OU with or without OSU. Arky and A&M were enough of a stretch on the SEC moniker, we don't need any more western teams in the Southeastern Conference.
Don't get me wrong, I really like having the pigs and aggies in the league, and I would love the opportunity to even up the series with Texas, but that doesn't mean I want them in the conference. OU does 0 for me.
FSU and Clemson, on the other hand, provide great rivalry potential. I'd like to go to the other Death Valley and watch the Tigers beat the Tigers. Less so the North Carolina schools, and even less so the Va. schools. I have NO inclination to go all the way up to Virginia to watch LSU pound the shite out of Virginny.

Yes, you have Auburn Syndrome. As time away from UTA grows, it will subside. Consider yourselves lucky, there is no relief for Auburn in the foreseeable future.

Well done, I like the Corps angle on VT.

How many of you really don't want Texas? I don't know if I can take their weird followers- or the ones with their noses in the air (the other half).
Keep their asses out.
