but it's not YOUR money. Your money (assuming you're a season ticket holder) would be spent watch four crappy teams instead of a potential great OOC home matchup.
You misunderstood the money comment.
Thats money going to the school. The payout getting to a better bowl by having more wins...that money.
Not mine.

And 6 months prior to that game, Bama had the top recruiting class in the country. Your recruiting was already picked up due to the coach you had and currently have, not bec of beating Clemson.
The 2008 class was in-state heavy with one of the best bevies of talent in Alabama history. We signed a grand total of two kids from Georgia in the 2008 class. One never qualified, the other transferred after a year. After playing in the 2008 and 2009 Chick-fil-A Kick Off games, Alabama signed at least 4-5 kids from Georgia a year.
So I still contend there's at least a high reward in recruiting when playing in this marquee match-ups.

It certainly doesn't hurt recruiting to play these games...even if you lose.

UF has 2 BCS titles off weak OOC scheduiling. Its brilliant. Why teams play hard non conf games is beyojnd me.
Play 4 weak arse teams and win the SEC...you will play for the BCS. Playing Mich or Ore in Cowboy Stadium do nothing.
You realize the only reason we made it to the Natty game in 2006 and 2008 was beacuase our schedule was more difficult than the other teams being considered? I guess you probably don't.

I understood your comment... my point was you (the season ticket holder) would be spending money on four crappy OOC games, instead of having one good OOC matchup.... the bang for your buck would be less.
We've had some OOC home matchups over the last decade that would've never happened with your line of thinking...
2009 WVU
2010 Clemson
2001 Syracuse
2007 Kansas State
Those were all exciting/ enjoyable games... and the tix would've cost that same for 1:00pm matchup with Northwestern State.

I did...which is why I used UF as an example. The SEC and FSU made your schedule more difficult without the need to add these early season "for the fans"games.

Arky fans posting about our OOC scheduling is pretty funny.
Your OOC schedule this year went a combined 16-20 last year and includes that Southern Conference powerhouse Samford. Take care of business before talking shite.

You must have switched gears then on me bec I wasnt talking about my money.
But I get what you are saying. The only bang I need is a W...I dont care if its against Furman or Nebraska.

And Im ok with that bec the 08 WVU game, 2000 Cuse game, and 2011 CU games were games we didnt need to play. The 2008 WVU game kept us out of a bowl. The 2000 Cuse game kept us from a possible 10 win season. The 2011 CU game kept us from a possible NY Day bowl. Thats money the school could have used.

Would it be possible, or semi-possible for all the major teams to play all their OOC games the same weeks? The B1G is notorious for all their OCC games first then the entire B1G season, while I know a lot of conferences do them throughout the season.
This would make it easier for everyone but I'm sure smarter people than me have said this before

your logic is odd, but i'm not gonna change or mind... what does it matter if we won 8 games or 9 games in 2000?.... or 8 instead of 9 in 2011?... or 5 instead of 6 (and possibly not firing tuberville) in 2008?...
This is how I look back on it... at the end of the day, all we have to show for our devotion/fandome is the experiences... playing good OOC games strengthens that experience, IMO.

Now we're catching grief because we're trying to be flexible for the good of the conference?
Yes.
Aggies gave LSU no end of grief for dropping the extension of the series in the 90s due to going to an 8-game conference schedule after SEC expansion to 12 teams.
Now y'all are pussying out on OOC games because of changing conference schedule concerns.

That is not what you said. You said UF won the natties with weak OOC scheduling. Which is incorrect. We always have at least decent OOC scheduling compared to other schools. In 2008 we played Miami and FSU at the beginning and end of our schedule.
Slive knows that when it comes down to the final determination of who gets in the playoff, strength of schedule will be very important, and with other conferences going to nine games, the SEC needs to make sure they have at least one highly ranked OOC team to keep an advantage.

with the number of big time OOC rivalry games at the end of the year the SEC/ACC has, I don't see any way that could be accomplished. SC/CU, UGA/GT, UF/FSU are gonna go down in late november after everyone else has their OOC schedule rapped up.

As an Aggie, I'm dissapointed. I was looking forward to seeing those teams come to Kyle.
I think its premature to jump all over us though. We canceled series with two good programs but we don't know who will replace them.
If we replace USC with Clemson, who cares? If we replace USC with McNeese St then I think the criticism is fair.
Hell, maybe we're adding Texas to the schedule again.

My point was you didnt schedule unneccesary pitfalls. You already had the tough FSU and SEC games to bolster your resume and it worked.
