Could you explain this "passes defended" stat to me?

INTs plus passes broken up, equals passes defended. It's a common stat, that is actively tracked. Not some random stat someone is trying to use to make an argument.

PD = PBUs + INTs

Ok so according to the stats provided earlier, Banks has 3 passes defended and 3 interceptions.

Milliner >>> Banks
14 >>>> 6
Statistically superior.
Draft experts agree with statistical data.
Overwhelming case convinces all but rampant MSU homers.
Welcome the the flat earth society MSU.

no he has 3 pbu and 3 int so 6 pass defended, he currently ranks 53rd in the country @ 1 per game and Milliner ranks 1st @ 2.8 per game

I looked up passes defended as a stat and the Internet said that inferior DB's rack up a lot of them.
What's the deal with that?

Because most QB's throw to WR's that are open. If Banks covers a guy well enough QB's won't throw to him, but if a guy sees an opening he'll throw it and it'll get broken up/picked.

UT running for 200 yards was not simply we allowed them to do it to stop them from passing. There had to be a weakness in the front 7 in order for them to accomplish that.
In that particular game, we got no pressure from our front 4(until we put Quay in in the 4th quarter). We were having to bring 5 or 6 on every play. This was why our rsFr MLB had an eyepopping stat line, because often he was the only one at home.
So, in essence, yes...selling out to stop the pass was in fact hurting our run defense... We generally play a balanced style of defense. This game was an exception to that rule...
That said, I'd be incredibly surprised if Quay doesn't start for us the rest of the year... I don't know how he is schematically in understanding our defense, but he is the best player on the field by a ridiculous amount when he's out there

No, it looks like Dee is bitch slapping some QBs that are foolish enough to try to throw his way.

2011 PD leader was drafted in the 6th round
2010 PD leader was an All American
2009 PD leader was drafted 5th round and All American
2008 PD leader was drafted 4th round and Rivals All American
2006 PD leader was drafted 1st round, All American and won Jack Tatum trophy
2005 PD leader was a Pro Bowl player
2003 PD leader was drafted 1st round and was a 2x Pro Bowl (deceased)
2001 PD leader was drafted 1st round and was a 8x Pro Bowl
Yeah, but PD just means nothing.
Carry on.

To be fair, it's a decent stat, but it's impossible to use those stats to compare a season like Milliner is having to a season like Banks is having. Currently, QBs are so afraid of Banks that they'd prefer to throw to guys covered by Darious Slay, who's another really good CB that's racking up interceptions, or Corey Broomfield, also in the top 20 of active career interceptors. Or Nickoe Whitley, also in the top 20 of career interceptors, who happens to enjoy hurting people.
In baseball terms, Milliner is hitting tripples, while Banks is getting intentionally walked, in favor of throwing to guys that hit doubles and tripples. You can't use volume stats like PD to compare the two.

No doubt. Milliner is racking up PD's because QBs keep throwing at him. QBs know not to throw at Banks, he'll pick that shite off. History has proven this. Banks is basically the receiver when QBs throw his way.

I agree. The constant circle-jerk among Bama fans about their own players every single day has gotten humorous. But carry on though. It's not excessive. At all.

I'm sorry milliner is better than banks bro. Not my fault

MSST fans seriously have no idea how to handle having a decent player on their team. This is hilarious.
