Saban over Miles, the rest I can't really disagree with that much.

Anyone who believes that Coach Miles is as proficient in football X and O's as Coach Saban is simply kidding themselves. Both men make mistakes, however I feel Coach Saban learns quicker and makes the necessary adjustments much more quickly that Coach Miles at this point.

Coach Miles seems to be more of a Father figure/friend where Coach Saban is more of a disciplinarian/educator. Both are very good at what they do and seem to have settled into their individual styles quite successfully.

From a recruiting standpoint, Coach Miles has yet to master the job like Coach Saban, end of story. I love Coach Miles and even when he's standing on the sideline with that 1,000 yard blank stare on his face I'm still glad he's at LSU and leading our football team.

If you were ranking the 14 SEC Football Coaching Staffs would the order stay the same? I suppose the assistants he hires is considered when ranking the coaches.

At any rate ---

Saban and Miles are the best. Petrino is probably 3d best.

Dooley and Joker are the worst. Muschamp isn't far behind.

The rest are in the middle somewhere

to fairly rank the coaches, you have to evaluate their situation fairly. i.e. some schools winning traditions make it easier to win than schools w/o sustained success. also their is a big difference in recruiting base and instate competition for resources. Saban's job is harder at Alabama that Miles at LSU. LA is loaded w/ talent and no competition from instate school. Freeze & Mullen have an impossible task in a small state w/ 3 D1A schools.

with that, here's my $0.02.

1. Saban - overachieving w/ superior resources
2. Spurrier - overachieving
3. Petrino - overachieving
4. Franklin - overachieving
5. Mullen - overachieving w/ resources
6. Miles - on par w/ resources
7. Chizik - 2012 will tell his worth
8. Muschamp - underachieving, but young coach
9. Richt - underachieving
10. Joker - underachieving
11. Dooley - underachieving big time. won't survive 2012.
NR. Pinkel - not informed enough to evaluate.
NR. Sumlin - can't fairly evaluate someone who hasn't coached a game in the SEC.
NR. Freeze - see above.

I'd flip Chizik and Richt, Richt has proven he can win at a high level for nearly all of his career, we'll have to wait and see what Chizik can do with a full roster and decent experience now. That said Dooley I could see flipping him with Phillips, how UT made two big screw ups in coaching hires back to back is amazing.
