He has a really good arm and a lot of potential. Assuming he's handled his off-the-field problems, he'll likely be a very good QB.
The whole situation worked out in the kid's best interests. He probably wouldn't have started at UGA - not because he isn't good but because Richt is a loyalty guy, and Murray is Richt's golden boy.

The only thing I wonder is who is he gonna throw to?
We might even use the TE's this year, just maybe so.

How do you get revenge on a game where you lost the Mac game. The two games aren't Even equal and it doesn't devalue the champ game from the previous yr. LSu should win but I am not as ready to concede as I was earlier this yr.

His initials aren't "J.J.".
And that's plenty good enough for now....

I'm going to call an audible and go with the 'NEXT' Brett Favre on this one :usa: :usa: :usa:

Hard to say. Might be an issue with learning a new system. Mett looked good in his first Spring game at UGA and the practice reports were good. He definitely has NFL size and he seems to move well in the pocket. I will say this: I wish we still had him because frankly I think he's a better fit in Richt's pro-style offense than Murray.

Didn't read the thread....but wouldn't Snead-like even be an improvement for us?

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat. He was supposed to pan out like a Percy harvin but we refuse to use him in that way

All this talk of "what established player will this guy emulate" talk is silly and unfair.
The offseason stinks.
I would rather not talk about sports than talk up a player that isn't gauranteed to start next season.

Drew Brees wouldn't have started over JJ under Miles. Y'all can cuss me all you want, but there is no reason to believe otherwise.

He wasn't amazing, but he led us to 2 cotton bowl W's as well as beating the eventual national champs at their house so I'd hardly call him a bust.

The difference is he doesn't need to be what they thought and hoped Jevan Snead would be for Ole Miss. With the defense we will have, we want him to manage the game for us in his first year as a starter.
Obviously, us LSU fans are hoping for much improvement from the QB spot after the last 4 years of hell from that position, but our identity as a team is not and has never been based around the QB going out ever game and trying to win the game for us.
It's not gonna be on his shoulders, we will have a blanced attack with a extremely talented backfield.

i dont think he fits in a category with either of those two.
Agreed. Doesn't have to be CN with the talent surrounding him. A little better than Jarrett Lee will be just fine.

Well, with Miles being the ranker of QBs, we have no idea who is better. The problem is Miles plays favorites, and it appears that Mett isn't high on his favorites list

Mett was the new guy. JL and JJ combined for 3 years of experience with the same personnel and plays. Plus, Miles is all about loyalty at the QB position (see Flynn, Jamarcus Russell). Mettenburger was probably the better QB coming into the season but Miles felt comfortable (very comfortable) with JJ and then JL based on experience. We did go 13-0 with these two this year and then had the meltdown last Monday but it is what it is.
The Mettenburger era is now upon us.

If Mettenberger can be as good as the Jevan Snead from 2008, LSU will win the national championship easily and won't be challenged during the season.

Believe it or not there are some fans who were upset with Miles.
