Leonardo DiCaprio is a Gamecocks fan?

He was seen at a recent Lakers game wearing this hat.
And apparently, DiCaprio's been seen around town wearing that hat for years. What's the story behind this? Is he a South Carolina fan? Does he have a family member or close friend who went to school there? It seems sort of weird how DiCaprio is supporting a school that he has no connection to and one that has very few bandwagon fans.

The whole issue between So.Cal and SC having a logo dispute is because So.Cal was actually worried dumbasses might buy our hat thinking it was a So.Cal hat (obviously not knowing So.Cals colors or the fact that there is a Gamecock logo on the back) I would not be surprised if this is it.
But hey if Ric Flair, Dale Jr, and Hootie & the Blowfish are Gamecocks why not Jack Dawson?

Nope he just wears a bunch of random hats to Lakers games. Stuck in an airport bar in LA once and the local TV station had a story about it. Delayed flights

Yeah, but DiCaprio's been seen at a number of Lakers games and even nightclubs wearing that hat. It's not like wearing that hat was a one-time thing for him like it is for a lot of other celebrities.

Well there is a video on an SC board of him giving a shout-out to us in '05 after beating UT in '07 was on a couple of entrance videos (not in a car, saying something along the lines of "Im Dale Jr, Go Gamecocks)
