Is Ewers the biggest example so far of NIL failure?

He was one of the original big 'nil' recipients who kicked off this insane situation we have, and he failed to pan out. Sure, Texas had a bit of success while he was there (if I remember correctly he went to Ohio State initially) but could anyone argue that it was due to Ewers (not in spite of him) or the ridiculous sums he was paid? More like weak schedules. As more high profile kids who have received millions fail to pan out will the money start to dry up?

The success Texas had the past two seasons had a lot more to do with the 23 draft picks produced in that time. You could argue that was Quinn’s largest contribution to the Texas Football program. He instantly legitimized Sarks program when he came to Texas, the 5 star perfect prospect. It allowed us to recruit a bunch of dogs that wanted to be apart of what Sark was building. Unfortunately, Quinn was very limited, and held back the very movement he started. Still, he left Texas in a much better place than he found it.

I think NIL may dwindle for some schools, but not disappear. These schools/teams will have to bargain shop players. Some schools have a large and diverse alumni that will continue to keep their NIL elevated. This will support additional sought after players that lesser NIL teams might not get, offense linemen or immediate need player from portal as examples.
For every Ewers, a counter naming of players can also be made. Texas for example could counter with Antonio Hill, Colin Simmons, and Ryan Wingo. These three are top shelf players and will be 1st or 2nd round picks most likely. Some players will have lesser NIL but still achieve highly, wr Golden as example.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, the NIL will be there if the coaches can evaluate and develop the players. It's mostly on coaches, not the players to be good managers of NIL. A coaching staff that star chases recruits without properly evaluating will be doomed.

I hate NIL but Ewers is the poster child of NIL success. He was a very good college QB that led his team to back to back playoffs. Texas got what they paid for. His draft status is irrelevant to Texas. Also, Ewers got to make some money in college since his game didn’t translate to millions in the NFL. Win/win.
Nico is the poster for NIL failure. Tennessee invested a ton and got screwed. NIL drove Nico to make poor decisions which will limit his development and NFL potential. Lose/lose.

Took his team to two college playoffs, turned around the program, started three years with good numbers, was a good leader in the locker room and loves the longhorns in general.

Just to be clear when we talk about Ewers’ NIL (and this is true for Arch as well) little to none of that comes from Texas or its boosters

How is the problem not more about the Universities at this point? Isiah Bonds releases a short with him driving to Austin in his new Lamborghini. The shorthorns are promising big budget buys like it's an all-star version of Let's Make A Deal. They are the ones helping to raise the NIL bar and creating chaos at the speed of light.

-Had actual NIL deals with companies (State Farm, Dicks Sporting Goods, etc)
-Was a great ambassador for his college & the companies that paid him
-Was a productive member of society and did things for children in his community
-Won a lot of football games
No, he's not even close to an example of NIL failure. How about Jaden Rashada?

Nice feel-good story....
texsa's recent success isn't due to Ewers legitimizing anything or "what muh Sark was building".
It's 100% due to the ka-jillions of dollars texsa spent out-bidding everybody on the recruiting trail and tampering in the portal. Cash and Lambos!

Oh, obviously true given how fast texsa stood up it's NIL program compared to OU. Very similar to how fast aggot stood up their NIL program in record time.

Proof that college NIL payouts don't translate to future NFL paydays. If there is any correlation, just proves that most schools are overpaying for high school talent that won't necessarily translate to college or NFL success.

this draft is making the Georgia qb that transferred to Miami for another season making big money look like the smarter move.
