These kids never read the children’s story about killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

Literacy lacking in many cases so understandable?

Recruit kids from good families and never let them think they have the slightest bit of leverage and you’ll be fine.
We should have done this last year with Milroe.

Except the players weren’t receiving any of the golden eggs

NIL isn't the reason for this crap with Nico, it's the portal. Stop focusing on NIL, the money is not going away. Fix the unrestricted portal that amounts to yearly free agency and the problem is solved.

It was always supposed to be “College” Football. You know…. Students of a college, who wanted to play a sport in exchange for a free education.
The golden egg they got was a college education, free housing, free meals, etc.
Professional sports, ie NFL and NBA is where guys who want to get paid to play a sport go.
Now…. The only thing “collegiate” about “college” football is the name on the uniform. Players aren’t students anymore. They are paid professionals playing a sport with a university name on it.
College sports is dead.

I don’t think it could be farther from the truth.

It’s only the death of college athletics as you know it. shite changes. Recruiting and nat’l signing day used to be the entertainment. Now it’s transfers and NIL money. Still entertaining but different. Change with the times or go extinct.

I hate NIL and what CFB is becoming but the “just play for free like it used to be” folks are absolutely fricking retarded.

Pro tip dipshit it isn't the kids' fault....

The other thing I’d add too is that a college degree doesn’t hold near the value it used to, and also a lot of athletes take majors that do nothing to help them.

Pro sports don't do unrestricted to this extent because they know it would destroy the product.

Tennessee tells their QB to take a ride and that's the death of athletics?
Karen, is that you overreacting again?

Cause players in the NFL don’t hold out, even when they can’t go anywhere??
The problem is all of it being thrown at once to 18-20 year olds with 500 agents, parents, coaches, boosters, friends, ex players, etc in their ear all the time about knowing what’s best for these kids.
Until Congress overrules the courts on NIL and Transfer portal, this will be a huge problem.
Go back to the way it used to be, but give them a few more stipends with the scholarship, provide a fund that gives them a percentage of their gear sold after completing at least 2 years at the Univiersity, go back to transfers sit out a year unless graduated or their head coach leaves…and limit access to agents via certified by the ruling body
