It's actually weird to me to be honest.

I put the below in the tournament thread…he may be there longer…most of the higher profile top 20’ish basketball jobs are pretty secure for now…I might see Self retiring from Kansas or UNC running off Davis…Villanova may make a change in a year or two…but that’s about it.
I think Ole Miss may get a year or two more out of him. Once the stink of the crap wears off from Texas, I’d expect him to take a top 15-20 coaching job somewhere. Blue blood wise, UNC or Kansas may come open over the next couple of years. Too 20 wise you may see a Villanova come open. But outside of those, no really big threats to someone poaching him from Ole Miss.

UNC, Villanova, Michigan State are all likely to be looking for coaches sometime in the next 3-4 years. Virginia could also open back up.

I don't know what to do with my hands

We have a bad habit of having cold spells on offense. 11 point lead at half isn’t enough to make anyone feel good. Those guys for Iowa State are big.

If Auburn can hold on to Pearl, Ole Miss can hold on to Beard.

If Ole Miss wins, that’s 7 SEC teams in the Sweet 16. Damn impressive!

Elite coaches and players all over the place in the SEC right now. It’s a thing of beauty.

Didn't they just fire Neptune?

Sounds a lot like the 2nd longest tenured SEC football coach...

I’m 100% not saying Ole Miss cannot keep him. I’m saying that it’s hard to turn down upper tier basketball programs if they do come open.
I think he stays at Ole Miss for a while (2-3 years) until a real, good, major job opens. But right now, those jobs aren’t open.
Indiana can think what they want about their program, but they’re so long gone and not really on the radar they’ve been so mediocre for so long. They weren’t going to get him.
No coach is turning down Kansas, UNC, etc if they come calling.

Yea. They have an “interim” right now. They gave Neptune 3 years.

Their AD just took over in January. Apparently, Will Wade came right out and said Villanova was trying to hire someone still in the tourney recently and the speculation is that it's Willard at Maryland.

I don’t know. If the salary and the nil money is right any school can be attractive now. The name advantage is going away.

Mississippi will beat Michigan State and advance to the Elite 8.

Yea I had read that. Will be interesting to see what happens. Maryland is a proud program as well.
