A federal judge on Thursday ordered federal agencies to reinstate tens of thousands of probationary employees who were fired amid President Donald Trump’s turbulent effort to drastically shrink the federal bureaucracy.

U.S. District Judge William Alsup described the mass firings as a “sham” strategy by the government’s central human resources office to sidestep legal requirements for reducing the federal workforce.

Alsup, a San Francisco-based appointee of President Bill Clinton, ordered the Departments of Defense, Treasury, Energy, Agriculture and Veterans Affairs to “immediately” offer all fired probationary employees their jobs back. The Office of Personnel Management, the judge said, had made an “unlawful” decision to terminate them.

The order is one of the most far-reaching rejections of the Trump administration’s effort to slash the bureaucracy and is almost certain to be appealed.

Judge Alsup is wrong. Probationary employees don’t get more protection just because he has a political disagreement with the President.

Appreciate the attempt, Judge.

Of all the incorrect rulings against Trump, this has to be the worst. Ruling based on absolutely nothing.

Better yet go arrest the activist judge and everyone else that stands in the way.

They want to call Trump a dictator, I'd be ok with him playing the part for a while till we clean up the shitty mess democrats have made of this countries judicial system .

Slow Fanni Pro will be here shortly to tell us how beautifully correct this judge called it.

Another reason why it’s probably too late, apparently cutting anything is unconstitutional and the deep state is too entrenched. The Supreme Court will not intervene

Actually, you “muh fight” people posting on this thread just don’t understand. This firing of probationary employees was really poorly planned and executed by the Trump administration.

I do not have an opinion on the ruling. I will kvetch and bitch about some imaginary problem until I have to move my argument to a new position.
