That loss versus Oklahoma was the dumbest I’ve ever seen. Old news but I don’t care.

24-3? It could’ve been close and I would have been disgusted, but to be blown out is PATHETIC. I know this is “old news” but Kalen better have his shite together against lesser opponents from now on. That game still pisses me off.

It was one of the worst teams Alabama has lost to in decades, right up there with 2024 Vanderbilt and 2024 Michigan. The optimistic take is that the person most responsible for the Oklahoma and Michigan losses is now gone.
But why you're dwelling on this today is a mystery

It should have been 24-10 at the very least. Who knows what would have happened had we not gotten Williams touchdown erroneously wiped off the board. Probably would have still lost, but it wouldn't have been quite as bad.
but the fact is is that over the course of the 2023-24 seasons we were on the cusp of things getting ugly in the first halves of multiple ball games due to offensive dysfunction and stagnation. We generally found a way to fight back in the second halves, but a lot of games potentially could have gone that way had we turned the ball over like we did against Oklahoma.

To be fair, it probably should have been 34-10. OU with a missed field goal and a dropped touchdown in the first half. Alabama with the TD that the refs stole from them.
Have those refs been fired yet?

Some of the worst interceptions I've ever seen anyone throw in both those games, and it just happened to be from.the Bama QB. But throwing two picks in back to back drives to the SAME SPOT was just too much, even without the pathetic tackle attempt on the pick 6.
But yeah, why are we talking about this shite in March?

As well as the refs from the Tennessee game...

Losing to Oklahoma was worse than losing to 2024 Vandy. Vandy was decent and there was the excuse of taking them lightly...even though that should never be an excuse. No one really knew Vandy was any good at that point. Obviously still should have won...but there was just no excuse for Oklahoma.

The excuse was our QB who is, thankfully, no longer on the team. Wish him well in the NFL or CFL or UFL, wherever he might land!!!

Coach Saban has some pretty dumbass losses against Tennessee and Texas A&M.
20+ fouls a game hurts.

They were at least super close games. OU sucked arse all year and still beat our asses

CNS lost 1 time in two decades to Tenn, and that game made me a believer in paid refs.
CNS took Bama one game from a title with nobody coordinators and Radio at QB.
DeBoer took a perennial top 4 team and missed a 12 team playoff.
OP is correct- the loss to Oklahoma was unbelievable. After that game I knew just one year of DeBoer had already dropped us down to "can lose to anybody" status.
Under CNS it was unimaginable to lose... ever... any loss was shocking- even in title games.

synopsis. Down 10-3 and LANK started throwing it to the Oklahoma Sooners.

As far as I know, the OP was about "dumbest" games not closest games.
The 2022 Tennessee game was dumb AF when we had 17 penalties for 130 yards. We had 10+ penalties against Texas. We had 9 penalties against LSU.
The 2022 squad was the most undisciplined teams that I've ever seen. That year was the DUMBEST in Alabama Football history. On paper, every team we played should have been BLOWN the frick out. Bryce Young was wasted.
Edited to add:
I honestly don't mind the loss last year to Oklahoma in the grand scheme of things last year was transitory and a lot of personnel issues, etc.
I mind having the GOAT coach, Heisman winning QB, and a stacked roster and don't even make the playoffs because we are undisciplined. That always stings more than a random OU loss.

Don't forget that Young was injured most of 2022, after the Arkansas game. He barely practiced before the LSU game and the rust was evident.
The refs screwed Alabama out of that Tennessee game. Never forget that Kool aid intercepted a pass late in that game that was called back by a extremely late flag for a phantom pass interference call. Even still, a missed field goal lost Alabama the game.

Why don't you just tell us how you really feel about it.

They spent two weeks studying the Vandy film. We had no idea what to do.
If anything, Wommack needs to be better at preparing a defense that can stop that type of offense.
Disclaimer: I thought Wommack got above a passing grade last year.

In fairness, the defense essentially gave up 10 points in that game. Sure, they were taken by surprise with the OU running game, but ended up being a bend but don't break kind of performance. Hate to agonize on this, but Milroe's performance was truly the killer with that game with his 3 ints. 2 essentially gave them 14 points and going 11 of 26 passing was brutal and killed any chance of staying in that game.
Agree that the option run game was an area for improvement and hopefully with a roster that better fits the scheme this year we'll see that happen.

Yeah and basically playing a bad Oklahoma’s even worse B team. That game just felt like our old baseball coach was involved. It didn’t make sense. Oh well.

The OU loss was easily the worst of the year last year and it's not even close.
Vandy caught you off guard on a let down week after a big win, and at least we were semi-competitive against Vandy, offense kinda kept up. Game wasn't decided till the very end.
The Michigan game was an ugly cluster F in a meaningless bowl game with a bunch of guys hwo barely wanted to play it, and it came down to the wire anywya.
The OU game we had EVERYTHING to play for (SEC title, Playoff Birth, etc.) and we turned in an inexplicably terrible performance for 4 straight quarters. The play calling was also the worst I can ever remember in decades.
That OU team was absolutely dog shite, they did nothing the whole game, and they still won 24-3 based on our own ineptitude.
People trying to spin it as anything other than a complete and total disaster are absolutely insane.
