This may be dumb question but would Arkansas be ahead of UGA with the head to head win?
Posted on 3/5/25 at 8:10 am to Omahawgs15
I fully expect us to end with 8 wins. I think Arkansas wins the last game In Fayetteville. I know we have a 7 man rotation but with a few days of rest and senior night, hogs should beat state

Yes but I just copy it from the SEC website and they break ties with overall record. But yes you are correct in a two way tie head to head is the first tiebreaker.

I corrected it.

OU will probably move up in Bracketology with a loss like they have been. Lost 7 of last 8 and still a 10 seed. lol

Oklahoma needs this win.
Hopefully they get it

When half the league is in the Top 25 and 1/4 is in the top 10 it's inevitable you are going to get stretches like that.
Not sure anybody has ever closed a season with #4, #5 and #1 though

Yeah, you never really know how good everyone is going to be when the schedules are set, but yeesh, that's a gauntlet.
On the plus side, will make the razor sharp for the tourney.

I realized last night against LSU was the first game we were really able to coast in from start to finish during conference play.
And it was the second to last game of the season.
And it was the second to last game of the season.

11 SEC schools have tied or broken their record for number of games played against AP Top 25 teams during the regular season: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.

Mike White spoke about this last night:
quote:
“You know what? I gotta say this, and I can’t bite my tongue… To say ‘what’s wrong with Georgia? They lost 9 of 11.’ Where’s the context? We lost 9 games to 9 really, really good teams. I want to say we played more Top 25 teams than anybody in the country. We’ve played more Top 10 teams than anybody in the country if that hasn’t changed. I want to say we were the underdog in maybe all 9. I was thankful we won the other two. It’s the best league in the history of college basketball…
White continued, “Think about the position we’d be in if you were able to get one of those Auburn games, or at Arkansas, or Mississippi State at home… But those teams are really good. So it’s not like Georgia was favored by 15 in four games that they lost and they just didn’t show up. That’s not who this team is. I think our record doesn’t indicate how competitive we are, and I’ll say that for the rest of this league as well.”
I will say a lot of the scrutiny he faced was due to the way he lost games with 2nd half collapses, but he’s definitely spot on here

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. What does kill you, makes you dead.

Yep - I went and broke down our schedule by NCAA projected seed lines. We're basically .500 against Top 4 seeds with margins right at net 0. Against teams seeded below the top 4 line we are 19-1 with an average margin of victory of like 18 points. So basically against teams we'd play before the Sweet 16 we've lost 1 time all year and only had 3 games that were within 5 pts.
It's just hard to sit back and look at things from an overall perspective and not the internal conference bubble (and emotion of rivalry) perspective and realize that most nights you are playing a NCAA Tournament team and the majority of those nights you are playing a Top 6 seed level team.
But, like we've said, that's the reason that Georgia could have 6 weeks where they won 2 games or something and still really just need 1 big win and a couple of toss up wins to be in good shape. And they got it, and now they're a lock with a game to play.

Yeah it’s hard not to become invested in 2 or 3-week mini-seasons, whether things are going well for you or not.
I’m curious to see if the SEC can finally get over the actual tournament hump though. I know Bama and Tennessee went far last season but in general the SEC has done really poorly these last several years

If there aren't 4 teams in the Sweet 16 and at least 2 in the Elite 8/1 in the Final Four then there will definitely be some blow back. People are already sharpening their knives hoping for it.
