I see these signings all over X, are these official commitments or what? Anyone seen one of these up close?

Financial aid docs most likely

For recruited walk-ons and preferred walk ons, sometimes schools send papers (not NLI or anything truly binding) for the walk-on to ceremoniously sign to feel a part of the recruiting class signing day activities

For sure. There are no Letter of Intent anymore, only Scholarship Agreements. Guessing it’s something in between, but IDK.
You’re right above. My son’s friend was committed to Wisconsin, only they weren’t going to scholarship him that first semester. They sent out an email to all the recruits before early signing day…but then they called him directly and said it was only for scholarship players and that he’d have nothing to sign.
He was offered a full scholarship to Notre Dame a few days later and he decommitted from Wisconsin and signed that way in December.
The ‘you don’t have anything to sign’ call was pretty callous…don’t send the fricking email then.

ND has better FB program and education than Wisky. If I were the kid or his dad, I'd be happy it played out as it did.

Oh yea. They were hoping for a Michigan offer…but that never happened and Notre Dame went all in on recruiting him once he stepped on campus. Kid is a unit.
